To limit China's influence in trade. Big picture, it's a good idea. Trump has even suggested revisiting TPP.

TPP as it was written at that time would’ve been a huge disaster for the US and domestic workers.

Indeed.

There goes that talking point.

He sure is.

Another talking point gone.

Yep.

We should all view it negatively.

I read this twice as "Ken Griffey" and I gotta say, I probably would have read an 8 page thread to see what it was all about.

But instead it's a guy I never heard of.

His voting record on economics is SUBSTANTIALLY more fiscally conservative than Trump's, who spent more than any President in history before him and grew the national debt drastically.

Fiscal conservatism is great, Trump was poor on spending and gave in to the Paul Ryan GOPe spending bill which was a typical RINO debacle.

MAGA is bringing onshore core manufacturing, limiting out of control immigration, owning critical infrastructure and pushing domestic job growth. The GOP doesn’t care about any of that because they are run by the CoC who mostly cares about cheap labor and is at odds with their base while paying them lip service every two years.

Trump is a conservative populist.

People who decry that are globalists who are free traders with anybody no matter the result to our society.

They are conflicted too. Look at the social conservative who are based in Christianity. They like the attacks on Disney, but support this free trade that has pushed Christianity aside. China has had way more influence on our society than we have democratized them and it's not even close.

Ken Griffin donated some money to Desantis's campaign. Griffin is a hedgefund manager and one of the richest guys in the US. Also lives in Florida.

He has had some very loose connection to WEF.

So according to Trumpkins, this makes Desantis a cuck establisment RINO because a guy donated to him.

No, DeSantis changing his Disney stance after Griffin stated to Forbes that he did not appreciate DeSantis going after Disney did that.

That along with the other people like Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan etc...

If you don;t get what's going on within the USA right now, that's on you. The general public is not going back to those people anymore.

Are you saying he did not sign a new bill in Feb of this year that replaced the one signed in April of 22?

You are becoming unreasonable.

Lets start here, do you support TPP as it was written at the time? The only major voices at the time against it were Trump and Rand Paul. DeSantis voted to allow the president to sign it. That is a substantive difference in position on a finite piece of legislation.

Speculating about whether he’d vote a changed version of which we have no idea what it would contain is not productive or meaningful.

Populism is bad

How exactly is it a negative as he’s outlined it?

Do you support onshoring manufacturing or not?
Do you believe in fixing the immigration disaster?
Do you believe China should produce the core ingredients required for many key prescription drugs?
Do you believe we should be trying to even out the trade imbalance?
How about reigning in China who is as we speak trying to destabilize our dollar and economy?

Because Trump is about the national candidate who seems to be serious about fixing any of those issues.

That's how you view it, of course.

But, I'm not going to loom at the knocks on DeSantis over TPP without calling out Trump.

I don't care if that bothers you.

Interesting point, considering your earlier assertion about that vote.

If you have to change what I've said to make your point, I'm going to ignore it.

Go back to what I've actually said, and we can discuss that.

Do you or do you not support TPP as it was written at the time?

Trump killed it and DeSantis voted to allow the president to sign it. Those are verifiable facts.

We agreed that Trump was to some degree a populist. You stated it wasn’t a good thing and I laid out his policies and you refuse to address whether they are good or bad.

If you are serious about debating facts and policy address my questions otherwise just admit you don’t like Trump for emotional reasons and let it go.
