Kari Lake's opponent (Katie Hobbs) has officially declined to participate in any debates

The local PBS station gave both Mark Kelly and Katie Hobbs (Kari Lake's opponent) a hard deadline of 5pm today to agree to debates. Kelly finally agreed today to debate Blake Masters. Hobbs, on the other hand, says she will not participate in any debates. She instead wants the debate moderator to interview them separately:

PHOENIX — Democrat Katie Hobbs' campaign on Friday all but ruled out participating in a televised debate with her opponent in the governor's race, Republican Kari Lake.
In place of the debate, Hobbs' campaign manager proposed a televised forum in which she and Lake would be interviewed separately by Arizona PBS moderator Ted Simons.
"We believe our proposal would achieve the goals Clean Elections aimed to achieve and satisfy the concerns of Arizonans, who wish for nothing more than a sober opportunity to weigh their candidates," campaign manager Nicole DeMont said in the two-page letter.

Why debate? Arizona is a rigged state. Hobbs can go to the basement like Biden and cruise to victory in the middle of the night.

Hillary tried this trick before. Didn’t work too well on her when Matt Lauer called an audible and asked her about her server, which she wasn’t prepared for.

televised debates are antiquated and pointless, especially if there’s no consensus on the moderator. 50 years ago it might have swayed “independents”, but in 2022 the exercise is futile. Hobbs could say, on stage, that she wants to exterminate people, and only one outlet would even mention that she said it.

If I was a Groomer candidate I would use Whispering Joe’s strategy of hunkering down in a basement. There’s a good chance the Groomer will win if they minimize their exposure and interactions with their informed and intelligent America First opponent.
