When I lived in New Jersey, the demographic is solely Blue.
But if you'd walked through my neighborhood during Nov. 2020. You'd see 30 Trump signs to 1 Biden signs.
In a Democrat stronghold state.
Now, New Jersey is a Democrat stronghold state. Where in the last governor's primary election an unknown republican truck driver with a $500 dollar campaign came a hair's breath away from unseating an incumbent dem governor.

Not really, but let's look at actual data instead of making things up...
There are ~111M US Twitter accounts. LINK
Around 97.5% of Twitter users are adults (aged 18+, with the vast majority of that being over 24yrs old) LINK
There are ~333M people in the US ( LINK), with ~258M being adults. LINK
97.5% of 111M = 108M
108M is ~42% of 258M
So, nearly half of all US adults are on Twitter. Even if you want to argue with the estimation of "nearly half", it's still far more accurate than your "about 20%".
