Kamala Harris is descended from Jamaican slave owners

Kamala Harris's father, Donald J. Harris, wrote an extensive essay about the family's heritage in Jamaica at Jamaican Global Online in January, claiming to be the descendant of a famed slave owner. Here's an excerpt:

Not to pull out my little violin here, but I'm descended from poor whites in Appalachia who never had a thing. My family were poverty stricken subsistence farmers until two generations ago. I am the first person (and so far only person) in my family to graduate from college.

I think this is the weakest field I’ve ever seen.

As to Harris herself, her mother is 100% Indian (dot). As such, her ancestry is LESS than half African.
As to the relationship with her father, her parents divorced when she was quite young, and her mother moved her across the continent from him. The relationship is likely not extremely close. On the other hand, she does seem to have a good relationship with her relatives in Jamaica, given that she seems to visit them with some regularity.

She’s a piranha in her own party. Reminds me of Jim Webb in 2016 talking about the poor Appalachia whites that were forgotten by Democrats. They crucified him. Gabbard getting endorsed by David Duke doesn’t help either
