Thank y’all for the recommendations. I’m currently building a library incase more Dr. Seuss’s occur.

Any on what led up to the Civil War that discuss other causes besides slavery?

Also looking for something that focuses on Hitler, propaganda, manipulating the youth.

He was the original Soy Boy. Rand had the current crop defined 70 years before they showed up in force.

I have shrugged as much as I can or am willing to at this point... everyone should... divest of interests where you can, remove your money from woke institutions and causes, pay as little in taxes as possible and do not risk what is yours in order to create for those that think they deserve it...

Sadly, the RINOs and Socialists (via soc media and the MSM) would destroy and hinder such a revolutionary were he to attain the office of POTUS.

But whew, the last 300 pages or so of that book with the 80 page lectures is pretty rough if I’m being honest. You had me convinced 400 pages ago, Ayn.

While I agree in terms of the culmination of the plot and overall story, I read the final few chapters as basically her manifesto or final plea.

Galt’s lecture toward the end I read as her compiling all of her knowledge and developed personal philosophy and then releasing a final plea to implore humanity to avoid the trap of the “parasitic mind,” to use Gad Saad’s term. She gave up the plot to do something she believed had to be done, and I read it as basically her words while the plot was suspended.

It’s definitely long-winded, especially in a 1200 page book, but it could be read on its own and I think would be effective reading for today’s youth if it were allowed to be presented in schools. There are some powerful statements within it even though she does go a little heavy on the atheism towards the end of it.

Be honest. Did you really read all 50 pages of John Galt's speech?

I thought Atlad Shrugged was amazing. Impressive how Rand put legs on her philosophy in such a clear way.

The theme of humans throughout History is not that complicated or requires great writers or thinkers.

Read any History book and see where all the great empires, cultures, etc went and why.

No wait. The very, very, very first example given us clearly shows us our future. (ADAM AND EVE)

Lol I did. Now it took me about 3 days and I was ready for it to end, but I slogged my way through it.

What kept me going was that I would always come across something brilliant and prescient to today that I would have to keep going and underline things.

I think she was pouring her heart out during that, and it’s like she decided during the editing process that she wasn’t going to edit because it came straight from the heart. Like writing a love letter that you just don’t wanna go back and reread because you were almost too sincere.

But, yea, I was glad when it ended.

I assumed it was a training thing where she said the same thing as many different ways as she could. I gave up after about 12 pages because of the repetition, but I have heard of several people pushing through because of principle.

There is a lot of redundancy and it all reinforces the main thesis until she got to the part of religion which gets very Nietzschean - which is interesting to me. It’s the master/slave morality that she seems to accuse Christianity of starting and building the culture around which is at the root of the slave morality that destroys a society.

I think you folks missed the book's point that "you" must stop helping the Liberals by "QUITTING" your jobs. Or even better sabotaging the infrastructure, Social Media, Water Supply, etc. That will cause everything to go back to basic needs like clothing and shelter. If everyone is working on clothing and shelter then there is no time for racial stuff, political stuff, etc.

Yeah, I think her views have a lot of good points, but I have to part with her on Christianity.
