LINK

Wow, hadn’t heard this yet. Sounds like he is lucky to be alive. Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium) are some scary drugs. Never know exactly how it will affect a patient’s brain and the withdrawals can kill a person. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Of course several leftists on twitter are giddy.

If I were a conservative in academia I’d be on a steady diet of benzos myself.

I think its more that he is dealing with a wife who’s got some crazy cancer, than having stress from being conservative in the liberal stronghold of academia

Didnt read the link but benzos can cause deadly seizures if you try to come off them cold turkey. It has to be done in a medical environment. Depending on the severity of the dependency.

I'm embarrassed to have bought his dumb book after hearing him on a few podcasts a couple of years ago.

Writing a "rules for life" book while you're addicted to drugs is ballsy.

Yeah Peterson is a grifter.

He's interesting as hell to listen to, even if it's all fueled by horse tranquilizers.

we had to seek an emergency medical benzodiazepine detox, which we were only able to find in Russia,” she added.....

Only in Russia? Something smells fishy.

He's not a grifter; those people seek out their fame and money. He was thrust into the spotlight by SJWs, and he's frequently talked about how weird his rise was and how the odds say his fall will be just as fast.

He's not always consistent IMO and I don't think he's got all the answers to life. But I do think he's genuine.

lol did any of y'all read the article?

quote:

Dad was put on a low dose of a benzodiazepine a few years ago for anxiety following an extremely severe autoimmune reaction to food. He took the medication as prescribed.

He's talked about this before!

quote:

“He took the medication as prescribed. Last April when my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, the dose of the medication was increased. It became apparent that he was suffering from both a physical dependency and a paradoxical reaction to the medication. A paradoxical reaction means the drugs do the opposite of what they’re supposed to. These reactions are rare but are not unheard of.”

Top that with the fact that he does suffer from seizers

Obviously I am praying for a full recovery and an end to his issues with anti-depressants. They can be dangerous if misused as we see in Mr. Peterson's case.

That all being said, I have never quite gotten why he became popular in the first place. I've watched a few of his videos purported to address various topics. Problem is, and maybe I'm just a simpleton, but his talks make absolutely no sense to me. He puts together word salads, gets very philosophical, and drones on and on in such a way that it becomes very difficult for the regular Joe to understand.

Agreed. And since he's an atheist, maybe this will spur him to seriously investigate the claims of Christianity as well. (He has spoken out against some of the "progressive evangelicals" -- which is an oxymoron -- so he knows what real evangelicals believe, he just needs to believe with more than his head.)

Pretty sure he’s not an atheist.
