LaPierre is pretty shady - remember Ollie North was pushed out as head of the NRA after he started asking too many questions about finances and expenditures. LaPierre claimed North was extorting him by threatening to disclose damaging financial information. North’s resignation letter basically said that someone really needs to take a close look at the NRA’s accounting.
The move by NYAG is obviously politically motivated by dems, but that doesn’t mean the allegations and violations of law are untrue. The NRA is a charity - can’t be used as a personal slush fund for leadership.
