Admittedly, I haven’t been watching every twist and turn in this story. But, the way he immediately ran across then jumped from the roof, if he ran into the woods it would seem like he would have had time to himself once he got out of sight. It’s not as though he was chased into the woods or even had anyone report someone running into the woods with a rifle. He’d have at least 5-10 minutes before any serious search could be conducted.

Yes, we agree. He didn’t shoot him, then disassemble the 70s era bolt action rifle, cross the roof, reassemble it, then jump.
He took the shot, a shot many kids can make at 12, crossed the roof, and jumped.
It’s not difficult. As a matter of fact, most of it was filmed.

So he broke the gun down after the shot, ran to the edge of the roof and then re-assembled the rifle before he jumped down ran to the woods and hid it.
