Humility. Washing the feet was a sign of humility. Christ was humble, he saw the sinner as well as the righteous as worthy of respect . It was because he came from humble origin, Nazareth was as humble a place as there could be.
But you are bitching about the add and suggesting that the people at He Gets Us are about giving absolution to unrepentant sinners.....I 'm not seeing that at all. The message is that Jesus is humble enough to show you respect....and he was. Jesus washed the feet of his apostles who were flawed men . Are you suggesting that the Hobby Lobby guys are new age Christian? They are not. Serious Christians, they are though.
Stop telling people they have to come to Christ. Christ would go to people to offer the gift. The gift is available to all
If those who are Christian do not spread the Gospel, we are held responsible for that. It is Christ’s command that we spread the word. Besides, how can someone say they believe the message of the Gospel, have Christ in their heart, say they also love their neighbor, and then refuse to tell people they have to come to Christ to avoid the consequences of not having the free gift of salvation? And it’s not just about salvation, but about a fulfilled life, avoiding the consequences of sin in their life as well.

Always weird to see those who don't believe in Christ as their Lord and savior tell others who do believe that Jesus would behave a certain way.

If you truly care about growing His kingdom on Earth, then you will acknowledge the lowliest of sinners with respect and empathy like Christ did for the sinner on the cross.
WHAT do you mean?
Jesus Kingdom is NOT of this Earth. (John 18:36)
Christians have been the largest donors of material goods, time, and help to the needy all over the world.

Your theological/ideological grandstanding is disgusting and represents everything wrong with the modern church.
Huh??
"Christianity" is plagued by false teachers these days.
However many are teaching exactly what Jesus Christ told His flock to do: Preach & Teach the Gospel and Word of Jesus Christ.
What specific sects do you see that represent "theological/ideological grandstanding" that are "disgusting"?

You are presupposing that the people behind the commercial are not. I'm not sure I see where they are not attempting to spread the Gospel. Christ helped spread the word through his works. His miracles were designed for that purpose. Missions throughout the centuries were designed for that purpose. The Gospel needs to be reinforced constantly in order to spread. People need to be reminded and at times we Christians must humble ourselves and go to where the sinners are and demonstrate kindness to the sinner. Christ did not write off sinners and unbelievers. Go where they are. Christ did have a problem with people who claimed to be of God and acted contrary to that or who took advantage of others in God's name....like the moneychangers

Yeah don't come around with that whole respect and empathy thing with all these good God fearing types. Besides most of them don't want to live with the consequence of sin either.

I don’t think missionaries are walking into the 10/40 window and telling all of the people there that they’re going to hell because they are sinners.
But I could be wrong

In simple terms, these commercials are about blatant virtue-signaling, deception, and recruitment.
The Pope has also made an acceptable public spectacle / mockery of washing the feet of prisoners / strangers / leaders (AND KISSING FEET as well) for ridiculous photo-op propaganda, subversive reasons. SEVERAL TIMES.
So what else is this so-called "Christian" foot-washing PR nonsense really about?
-- MOCKERY & RIDICULE and warping the meaning of Scripture of (The "Pope" is about anything BUT the doctrine of "Christianity or Christ")...
-- A supposed "GOTCHA!" of "hypocritical Christians" who don't wash & kiss the filthy feet of random strangers for no reason whatsoever in order to "prove" they are "Christ-like".
-- Another blatant subversive message for this commercial example of foot-washing: IT IS A "WHITE-CHRISTIAN obligation" (and reparations of sorts) to be subservient to EVERYONE ELSE.
The outfit who's running this sneaky subversive advertising campaign is NOT about the Gospel and Heaven/Hell destinations, but of recruitment & conversion to a "more accepting, tolerant" versions of "Christianity" -- aka SJW-churches (like Episcopal, RCC, etal that make the Gospel message and any Scripture that SJWs find "offensive" OPTIONAL.

Too many people twist Jesus' message with their own politics. The Gospels as well as the Epistles make Christianity a lot more different than how many represent. It's both conservative and incredibly radical at the same time. I think if you want to change the sinner, go to where the sinners are then look at yourself as well. So many focus on the speck in the other guy's eye and we ignore the plank your own
Plus I n this case people are complaining, twisting scripture to protect themselves over a commercial that essentially says that if you want to change people's hearts and minds, stop being a jerk and demonstrate some kindness . Christianity is so much more than your political inclinations.

No, you slipped up and admitted what we knew all along: You make stupid statements based on your personal bias as opposed to the information at hand..
You admitted to making a comment despite not having read what was right before you.
You exposed yo'self, homez.....

And at the same, comments like those oversimplify the situation in both directions as well. And you've only written out some vague statements that don't really point to what you think Christians should do.
It's ok for Christians to accept, pray for, and work with someone like a trans activist. Have humility and compassion. And try to be kind to them...they should...
It's another thing to let that trans activist spread their thoughts, lies, and inconsistencies of reality to children. It's ok for Christians to be militantly against that and to protect God's children. That is in line with what Jesus would do, especially when the other side is so subversive and aggressive with their beliefs.
You can do both things. But that is a complicated line for ANYONE to walk. And you can't denigrate Christians for not being able to walk through life perfectly protecting their beliefs, being kind and humble and reacting to an overtly anti-Christian world that will not let up.
But that's also sort of the point.

You are right. But what side of this supposed debate is more apt to make your chicken nugget and coffee purchases Political?
It's hard to NOT be political when almost every facet of life has been yanked into the political.

Thanks for responding.
Kiwi...
So you are bothered that Christians are ALSO dirty sinners (yet acknowledge it and the need for Jesus to "cleanse" them) who (in your mind) "lecture" those who don't accept or believe that need? This is the fundamental of the Gospel message.
Is it you also don't like the "Holier than Thou" vibe from some Christians?
"Kindness" in what sense?
I sensed something altogether different than you. The commercial ad was obviously NOT about what mattered for Eternal Life -- sharing the Gospel. It was...pure political virtue-signaling and guilting. (Their website even admits their MO is "social" change.
Nobody (Christian or Pagan or Atheist) can change someone's heart so that they "know" Jesus and the Gospel; They can be encouraged. It's a matter of just two entities in a "meeting of the spirit". You and God. No feet-washing commercial is going to accomplish anything but division (what we're seeing).

quote:I see the point is that Christ is here for you, seek him out. It does not matter what you have done, the blood of Christ was shed for the forgiveness of sin.
THAT is indeed what is truly pharisaical, the doing of works to gain self righteousness instead of looking to Christ for our righteousness, and forgiveness.

Are you suggesting Jesus was confused? Cuz dems his words, not mine
