Word out of BR is that our new Gov met with Tm Temple and GOP leaders yesterday and told them that he would veto ANY auto insurance or litigation reform confirming that he is bought and paid for by Gordon and his ambulance chaser buddies. The rumors during the campaign were apparently true.
Idiots like this are why we stay at the bottom.

You are completely missing the entire problem with Louisiana if you are just now realizing that the governor is corrupt, no matter who he/she is.

I don’t love the guy by any means, but I see basically zero chance of this. Zilch.

There’s a couple of them that make drive by posts and threads about Landry. They try to stir up negativity towards him, but it usually fizzles.

Most of the “tort reform” bills pre-filed are extremely poorly drafted and wouldn’t not even approach the actual desired effect. Some are even blatantly unconstitutional.
The last round of “tort reform” led to auto insurance rates continuing to increase. Our rates are high due in large part to shitty roads and shittier drivers, plus the significant amount of uninsured/underinsured drivers, coupled with insurance company greed.

Not a lot of shitty road insurance claims.

Seems to be a significant element missing here. Let's see if the campers can figure it out?

Yep, those buildings, their billboards, etc. just materialize out of no where. It certainly doesn’t come from claims paid out of our premiums.

Mississippi is similar to LA in every way yet their rates are lower
Why?

I mentioned this in a previous thread, why not create or dedicate a specific division in district court to handle all civil suits involving automobile crashes and increase the fee to file such case and establish a pretrial court mediation panel that must hear the case before going to trial. Shorten the prescription period back to 1 year or less to ensure that when trials occur witnesses are still capable of recalling the accident and not retelling a different story after the age of time has changed their memory. 3 years is a long time to sue. Sometimes people forget what they ate for breakfast let alone an accident that may have happened 4 years ago if the prescription is increased to 3 years and the court waits a year before heading to trial.
It is also unfair to the insurance companies because they now have to pay interests for an additional year in addition to 3 or more years of document and evidence retention, and an attorney that oversees the claim for that long.
