I read 90% of Iranian oil goes through there.
Our military is both smart and clever though, so who knows what our men are going there for, could be a stealth strike on their nuclear facilities, we'll see.

Kharg Island is probably the gift Trump mentioned yesterday. He said it was very valuable and concerned oil and gas. We've probably received word that the Iranian troops on that island will stand down and work with us to get it flowing again.

Jack is fos. Even if we did take Kharg or another coastal area, there’s no doubt we could militarily kick arse, and likely with minimal casualties.
However, what the armchair generals and wartards here fail to account for are the nickel- dime attacks that slowly attrit our forces. An IED here, sniper there, FPV drone there etc.
I thought OIF would be an object lesson, but here we are again.

Nowadays, against the USA, I don't think this matters at all. Precision strikes from drones and aircraft can put a missile thru a vent hole or a drone thru an open door or window. Or a 5000 pounder through the roof.
In a constricted place, like a small island, it would be like hiding from mosquitos, might work as long as you don't open a door or window or even look outside. And then what good are you?

82nd is "rapid deployment." However, there's no need for rapid deployment and its not enough people to send alone in a non-emergency situation.
If there was a true emergency, and we needed to slow an advancing enemy down until the rest of our forces could get there, yes... you send them.
Also, where's all my marine vets yet that are watching not once but every time since 2000 where.. they weren't mentioned as possible first boots on the ground
