The current average gas price is still the highest that it has been in four years. That’s a fact.

As of May 29, 2026, the current national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $4.39. [1]

The monthly national average for a gallon of regular gasoline in May 2022 was $4.44, according to official data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Prices rose steadily throughout the month as the summer travel season approached. The highest national average price within that specific month reached $4.62 per gallon by May 31, 2022, as recorded by AAA Gas Prices. [1

Where I live, they’re as high as I’ve ever seen personally. I’ve never personally seen a gas station with $4.00 or higher on their sign until the last month or so, and that is most definitely higher than at any time during Biden’s presidency.

Are you sure you want to do this? You had such a difficult time understanding averages last time we did this.

I don't understand the point these high gas price supporters are making. SO because Biden had high gas prices, we should celebrate Trump having them as well? They are adamant about making sure we enjoy high gas prices. I don't get it.

You’re such a retard. What you posted supports the point I made.

quote:

WASHINGTON, DC (May 28, 2026) – The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is down 12 cents from last week at $4.42. Crude oil prices have been going down this week amid reports of peace talks with Iran. But the fragile situation could cause oil prices to spike again if a ceasefire deal isn’t reached. The chart below shows how the national average has fluctuated in recent weeks. Gas prices remain the highest they’ve been in four years and will likely remain elevated as the busy summer driving season gets underway.

Ok seriously, I’m beginning to think that you are literally retarded. The whole “average” discussion that we last had supported that, but now it’s like you can’t even count back four years. What’s the matter with you? 2022 was literally four years ago. Are you ok?

Yes and gas pricers were higher in 2022

quote:

May 2022 was a period of uninterrupted upward momentum. Prices started lower but climbed daily, exiting the month at their highest point ($4.62) and aggressively heading toward June's all-time record of $5.01.

May 2026 saw prices spike early to $4.56 before Memorial Day, but recent geopolitical relief has since pushed the current average back down to $4.39.

2026 is not going to be anywhere close to $4.00/gallon national average of 4 years ago.
quote:

2022 Peak: Prices reached a record high, with the national average exceeding $5.00 per gallon in June 2022 due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and supply disruptions. The annual average for 2022 was approximately $3.95–$4.06 per gallon.

quote:

The average U.S. gasoline prices for the first four months of 2026 were $2.91 in January, $2.91 in February, $3.64 in March, and $4.10 in April.

I had said we would see $3 gas by the fourth for a while now.

You talking $3.00/gallon in a state like Louisiana or Oklahoma, or $3.00/gallon as the national average before July 4?

Reading comprehension is hard for some folks, and coping when called out on it turns some into blue haired snowflakes.

Poor kid

Comparing high prices today to high prices over 5 years ago is a cope.

The two have nothing to do with each other.

Sorry your brain needs to cope.
