Think about this for a moment: why would YOU have a picture of YOURSELF passed out with a crack/meth pipe hanging out your mouth on your computer. Normal people would realize that this, at the least, is not a good look and delete it immediately.
But, a lot of normal people, especially in their younger years, had a nights of partying, passed out with beers in their hands and their friends goofed on them by drawing dicks on their heads, taping them to the wall, etc. The pictures of such hijinks are amusing to reminisce on afterwards. That's how I think Hunter looked at crack/meth or whatever he was smoking.

Also, there is no discipline of failure for someone like that. His entire life is replete with wealth and reward while devoid of requisite accomplishment. He DGAF and has no reason to.
On top of that he is a junkie so you can't judge his actions in the context of a rational person.

The emails I’ve seen are more in the nature of “poor little me”. Very self-serving.
I said it in another thread - it’s a virtual lock Hunter guilts the shite out of Joe: “It’s YOUR fault that I’m the way I am.” And Joe falls for it every time. Hunter may not be very smart, but like most sociopaths, he’s a con man...and he can always spot an easy mark like his dad.

He likely isn't the sharpest tool in the box. But think about it: If you have lived your entire life and done the things he's done and gotten away with it (and in fact, having the media actively defending you), would you suddenly feel a need to start being careful?

You know; Hunter is an idiot, but he's not quite that stupid (at least it's hard to believe he's that stupid). I'm going pretty far out on a branch here, but maybe it wasn't accidental.
Reading some of the texts and communication that he'a sent family members; it's clear that they don't respect him and it's clear that there is some very strange relationship that they all have with Joe. It also appears that he has been supporting the family in some way, all the while they shite on him.
It wouldn't surprise me if at a low point with the family he decided to drop off this computer knowing that all this dirt was on there. It also wouldn't surprise me if someone else was in-the-know that the computer would be dropped off as well. He's not the most stable guy, although its a huge stretch by me, but it seems like he certainly would be capable of getting pissed and doing something like this to burn it all down.
