No, tell her to stick to her convictions.

I’m sure she can convince the looters and rioters that she’s on their side and you’ll be spared. Words are more powerful than guns.

Good luck finding a suitable firearm for home defense. A little too late.
I have been looking everywhere

In terms of shotguns I gotta Mossberg 535 that I'm really happy with. It's nothing fancy (perfect entry level shotgun IMO) but it's a great gun.

My anti-gun nut wife said we need to buy a firearm for protection. I was floored. That said, any baws want to give me some direction of what I should get? Any help is appreciated.

My wife who is also anti-gun said just this week, "I might be time to buy some handguns"

An illegal barrel that has to be registered?

Rifles have to have a barrel of at least 16" or they have to be registered as a SBR under the NFA of 1934. By using a "brace" instead of a stock, it's technically a pistol, not a rifle. Blatant loophole, but it hasn't been shut down yet.

My rifle of choice is a 7mm Mag

A 7mm Mag as a defensive weapon that the wife might need to use? Um, no. The 7mm Mag (and I have one) is meant for the deer blind, not a gunfight.

The Red Pilling of America’s is just a matter of paying attention to what Progressives intend to do with their new-found power.

Seems more like OP should be asking his wife what gun to buy since she's clearly in charge.

My guess is she is more likely to shoot her self or a loved one than using it to protect herself at anytime in her life

A shotgun is usually the go to for someone new, less chance of shooting yourself in the head.

For home protection a pump shotgun is a really solid choice. It's much easier to aim accurately under tremendous stress and it has a larger discharge. The pump part gives you quick reload that also makes a sound that everyone in the world understands.

H&K P30 or P30SK are just as reliable and have better hand feel IMO. I had both before the boat accident :-(

I got my gun out today, stuffed it between the couch cushions. Black dude stops a old walker by I know, but ends up parked crooked in my driveway. I finished up my immediate yard work and went inside. Got the gun, showed my son, 14, where it was...guy starts walking toward the front door of my house so instead of bunkering inside with the guy I went out to talk to him. He said he wanted work, told him I didn’t have any, and he went away.

Mine too. I think it's better than the Glock.
