Since most shootings occur within NINE FEET, I'd suggest a .38 revolver. Nothing better than a point and shoot gun. Make sure the barrel is at least four inches long, six is better but four is easier to conceal.
Load with hollow point ammo. You want each shot to count with the maximum stopping power.

Good. Buy as many as you can afford for different uses. Most stuff is on back order right now and licensed sellers are on allocation until the manufacturers can increase production. If you see something you want, odds are the store only got a small amount. The AR 10 was the last of 10 that he got in ....on Thursday. Oils be weeks before he gets more. The reps are calling the sellers now and allocating orders.
I grabbed up a new AR 10 , an AR 15 pistol, and a Sig 9mm (for my wife) yesterday. They were all welcomed to the club when they arrived home yesterday!

Only buy her a gun if she agrees to go to the range on the reg and learn to shoot it, disassemble it, clean it, lubricate it, and reassemble it. WAY too many people buying guns who don't have the slightest clue what they own or how to use it.
