Found the reason..........

A recent poll from Data for Progress and Rise found that voters might be less likely to vote in the midterms if the Biden administration fails to provide adequate relief to borrowers.

The largest single loan act of forgiveness in the history of the United States has happened.

It’s obvious you know nothing about economics. Didn’t you know canceling student loans and suppressing working class wages reduces inflation…..lol

I'm so glad I made all of my educational decisions based on what would prevent me from going into debt. I'm so glad that I avoided really interesting opportunities at more prestigious universities to save money that otherwise would have been forgiven by this administration.

Could a human being possibly be any stupider?

Do you even PPP "LOAN"?
Not that I agree with loan forgiveness but this is different from just straight up forgiveness, this is written into the law that they can forgive loans if a college is closed or is just a scam. The schools should face the cost, but they won't. Academia is broken.
We shouldn't forgive PPP loans or student loans, hell the government shouldn't even be in the business of making loans, but there is not need to make intellectually dishonest arguments about them.

I sure hope all of these people get a debt cancelation 1099 and have to claim it as income. That will be sticker shock to them.

According to an IRS opinion letter, student loan forgiveness under Borrower Defense to Repayment is not treated as taxable under federal law, although that official opinion was limited at the time to borrowers who specifically had attended Corinthian Colleges.
Forbes
It is not, most student loan cancellation isn't taxable, and I am pretty sure ALL cancellation through 2025 was deemed not taxable through one of the covid recovery bills.

Well none of this shite applies to me

Perhaps the entity acting as lender should be doing more due diligence on these things.
The government knew these programs were scams. They loaned the money out on shite, fake degrees.
Then they rolled back in to complain about the schools when the schools shut down. If they hadn’t accredited them for loans in the first place, the schools wouldn’t have lasted a year.

No. If a school goes out of business then loans don't need to be repaid.

Ding ding ding. The people that had theirs paid off will have to pay even more now.

So are the recipients of this largess going to be paying income taxes on what they receive?
Nvm. I see the answer above.
