They are terrified of "bad publicity" because ANYTHING they do will be spun as "horrible", "awful", "undemocratic", etc...basically everything the D's are ACTUALLY doing. Unfortunately, the US does not have an unbiased or even "balanced" MSM. It is unabashedly and unapologetically a leftist mouthpiece. They completely shed the thin veil of objectivity in 2015-2016.
So what Pubs have to do is accept that FACT and push forward, regardless of the consequences. The other side does not care about ethics. The ends always justify the ends. And if, IF, Republicans get back into power it must be a scorched earth approach...because the Dems will ALWAYS take that approach if/when they are in power.
That approach is absolutely terrible for the American people. But...all empires eventually fall.
