It Looks Like House Democrats Are Worried About The 2022 Midterms

House retirements are one metric we’re watching to give us a clue as to how the 2022 midterms will unfold, but on the surface at least, it doesn’t look like either party has an advantage in this regard: 10 Democrats are retiring compared with nine Republicans. However, when you dig into the specific reasons that are likely behind each retirement, it does look like Democrats are more worried than Republicans.
quote:
But considering they also had other factors playing into their retirements, one can argue at this point that no Republicans are retiring primarily out of fear of losing their general election next year.
Retiring Democrats, however, appear to be more motivated by electoral concerns. Only five of the 10 retiring Democrats are running for another office, while four currently represent swing seats: Reps. Filemon Vela, Ann Kirkpatrick, Cheri Bustos and Ron Kind. And only Vela’s seat is likely to be made safely Democratic in redistricting, although he didn’t know that when he announced he was retiring. It’s reasonable, therefore, to theorize that fear of losing reelection was a key factor in their decisions to retire.
The 10th retiring Democrat is Yarmuth, who currently represents a safely blue seat anchored by Louisville, Kentucky. But he may be retiring out of fear of losing reelection, too. That’s because Republicans, who control the redistricting process in Kentucky, could eliminate his seat by giving slices of his dark-blue 3rd District to neighboring red districts that can absorb more Democratic voters without becoming competitive — a gerrymandering technique known as “cracking.”

They should be scared of the voters.
But they aren't bc they cheat to win.

Kind is only 58 so rather young to be unplugging from the trough. Likely has a lobbyist job lined up.
He didn't win by much last time with his opponent getting little support from the RNC and western WI is not fan of the far left tilt of the DNC.
The Cook Partisan Voting Index adjusted the district's partisan lean in 2021 from "even" to a pro-Republican lean of 4 points.
As far as I'm concerned he can DIAF.

Why? They just stole the most powerful office in the world with no consequences, and they still have Dominion and all their assets in place in swing states and Georgia.
They're not worried. They're trying to make it look like they're worried.

They will cheat. Antifa and Soros will be stirring up major shite. If the House pendulum doesn't swing back, you know it's rigged.

No reason to be scared of losing when they have mastered the art of stealing elections.

Going by Historical trends the Democrats lose the majority ,but the supposed moderates in swings districts are in big trouble and they know it. This could be a complete wipeout if the GOP is smart. The Democrats pushed too hard and too fast and they have completely lost independents. If you are in the GOP all you have to do is denounce CRT, restrictions, and mandates. However, with all that being said never underestimate the GOP to frick this up and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

it "should" be an utter bloodbath based on historical off year elections. The mid-terms will tell us if the method for stealing stuck.
If you don't see that swing back to Republicans we are screwed. We will then be one party rule at the national level.

Why are they worried? There's no Republican president to endlessly impeach.

Amazing isn't it that we have heard of no news from the Republicans, forget about the damn media, on how this problem can be fixed for future elections. It's like "well this, cheating, is the new norm and until the Republicans can figure out a way to outcheat the Dems then this is our political life for the time being."

The GOP is stupid and dumb. They will put up bad candidates and not support ones that have a real chance of flipping a seat. I have said for years the GOP is happy being in the minority. Just look at their leadership if they win McCarthy would be a horrible leader. Need fresh, young leadership with better ideas.

Yep.
They would rather snipe and birch from the sidelines than actually government.
Boehner HATED being Speaker.

House elections are harder to steal than statewide races like Senate or President
There really is no reason they don't lose the house but we know the GOP loves to screw things up so we will see

I agree, it has been obvious since day one of Biden that the Dem party wants to hurry up and do all they can before midterms, knowing there will be a huge swing after two years of their bullshite.
Someone needs to tell Chuck that "everything will be off your table, and on ours!"
We just all have to have faith and hang on relentlessly.

Historically the party that wins the White House has trouble at the next midterms. This should be the case again unless the Democrats can get it together. They always have a hard time getting it ogether.

It’s because they know they are lying.

In before Sentrius comes in to scold you for daring to demean his idols.

So not only do you support the theft of the civil rights of Americans, you are dishonest about it.

Have no fear. Republicans will find some way to f*ck it up.
