Both of them can be bad guys. It's not a race.

Israel/Palestine is a complete clusterfrick and both sides do really despicable things. And there are plenty of innocents who get hurt on both sides.

ISIS, however, is undeniably worthy of annihilation. There is nothing good or tolerable about ISIS.

eta: no, i see it's not even that. just a fox news piece on the vicar. ISIS certainly exists and its members are by all accounts horrible.

but something just doesn't sit right with me with the US propaganda campaign on this. just feels scammy.

Why there are no hit squads to take these animals out is mind boggling.

Honest question, would you like to put substantial troops on the ground to deal with ISIS?

I agree. The problem is that a lot of people don't recognize propaganda when they see it.

Why wouldn't we talk about what's going on? They're selling and raping women and children. They're executing hundreds of people at a time. It's absurd to expect the media not to talk about it, even on a daily basis, as that's how often these atrocities are occurring.

In your opinion, what agenda is this propaganda promoting? Who is responsible for its promotion?

Honestly, yes. Stop them before they hit us big.

One question: Would you go back to 2000 after the Cole bombing and take out Al Qaeda if you could?

This isn't propaganda... This shite is really happening. I married into a Middle Eastern Christian family, and they still have relatives that are dealing with this shite. These aren't the first kids that ISIS has murdered, not even close.

None of this justifies all of the U.S. foreign policy decisions in the region, but don't pretend like THIS isn't happening.

It is promoting the "evil" reputation of ISIS and the need for the US to go in there and do something about it. It puts pressure on the White House.

As for the who? There are a number of groups that would like the pressure to mount for sending troops back into Iraq and invading Syria as well. There are a number of hawkish politicians and private companies that would profit.

Sure. I'd also go stab the infant Hitler in the throat, but I'd have a hard time explaining it to the people standing around watching me do it.

Do you think any of what's going on with ISIS is actually newsworthy? How does one distinguish between legitimate news and propaganda?

Serious questions.

I believe that atrocities have been committed. But this guy is a pastor who is relaying stories. Not any firsthand experiences. And he also said that Jonah came over in a submarine, so there is that.

Watch the video and let me know how credible his story is to you. Remember that he is someone who lives off of donations.

Hey, stuff like that happens. No doubt. But this account is a story.

How to recognize propaganda? When a story has much more emotional value than factual value. And the evidence is questionable or just based on hearsay.
