Is the legislature going to override JBE's veto of congressional redistricting?

Haven't heard anything about this, but the deadline on whether to go into override session has to be coming up soon.

you will be able to count on one or two RINOs to forget to vote or change their minds to stop it

Lol they wouldn’t override him on two fairly safe issues for being a louisiana politician - dudes playing in girls sports and constitutional carry.

Just saw it’s scheduled for Wednesday so they must think they have the votes. If I’m Schexnayder or Cortez, I’m making it abundantly clear that whoever goes back on his word may as well resign because no legislation they draft will even get heard, much less get through.

Those pussies don't have the testicular fortitude to override a veto

Someone will get paid off for this to go through.

The required number for a veto combined with the Black Caucus making up a large number of the Dems make it hard to peel off from the other side let alone hold ranks.

The senate is a pretty solid override.

The House does not have 2/3rds republicans. They need dems and independents. There is one dem (Thompson) who said he would override. The I's are on the fence.

There might be 1 or 2 very conservative house republicans (e.g. Blake Miguez, the House caucus leader) that could kill the deal because they are not 100% happy with how Clay Higgins got cut out of st. Mary an St. Martin parish. Would be weird if the override vote failed because the Republican Caucus leader's vote!

No. That would require balls and we all know Republicans have no balls.

Just announced, starting Wed.

LINK

quote:

Schexnayder appeared on Brian Haldane’s Talk 107.3 FM radio show Monday morning and said that while specifics still need to be worked out, he suspected that the five-day special session would convene Wednesday and go back to the regular session on Friday.

“We won’t necessarily take two votes unless we have to,” Schexnayder said. “We should be able wrap it up in one or two days.”

It's going to be close. Senate needs to hold the line, and GOP needs to hold the line plus two. I think they will get Thompson... so just need one more.

Supposedly they are going to adjourn the regular session at Noon on Wednesday, convene the special override session, then adjourn that and immediately re-convene the general.

So does this mean on Wed, they will get two per diems, one for each session held on the day?

Of course not, they don’t care. Just don’t get in their way heading to the public trough.

They will override it

If they can’t, then they move to impeach Edwards for the State Police scandal. Dems don’t want to have to vote on that as he would have to go. They don’t really want that, but the Legislative leadership is in a position to make their next election very uncomfortable.

No. We know that the republican ranks are filled with democrats that lied and tricked voters into voting for them.

Well, today is the day. It looks like the Repubs need at least one additional House Dem to join them to override JBE’s veto. This will be interesting to watch!

You'll find out soon enough. They will find a way to adjourn and restart three times a day if that's the case.

He’s in upper St Martin, though I’m sure Miguez is more concerned about lower.

So Miguez is a closer ally with Higgins than Graves?
