Because we produce whats efficient and offshore what isnt.

I dont understand why this is so hard for some to understand. Its created wealth, not hindered it.

Half of the threads on this board are “our memes are awesome and theirs are so lame!”

We deserve to collapse at this point.

I kind of like the idea treating it the way Alaska does. Create a dividend fund with the money.

Precisely, “oh no he is a populist”. And? “Principled” conservatives have been elected for decades and accomplished nothing

Wrong. Coolidge was our last "principled conservative".

Yes. Me, the guy who has always had issues with Trump/MAGA's leftist economics, made a comment in a thread where people are promoting leftist economics and defending Trump for the idea.

I would think any rebate checks of $2k or more would go out closer to midterms for obvious reasons. That's how the game is played.

ETA: My bad, you already covered midterms as the target date in the OP. Yeah I'm thinking August 2026 timing it for parents just before having to buy school supplies, tuition etc.

He talked about sending the rebate checks several months ago.

Because the general voter population loves free shite and votes accordingly.

Populists vote for more spending, then blame the people that dont support their leftist tendencies.

I wonder if any of the "gloom and doom" TDS-obsessed anti-tariff crowd has FINALLY acknowledged that tariffs didn't exactly bring the American economy to a screeching halt?

Are you really that dumb?

Surely you understand that issuing stimulus checks is for the sole purpose of attempting to prop up an economy that is too slow?

Trump is literally propping up the economy to try to hide the negative effects of the tariffs and you're cheering for it.

It's an even more desperate ploy than leaning on the Fed to change interest rates.

And you think it's something to cheer about.

This.

I noted a LOOOONG time ago that Trump is a populist with conservative leanings.

As for this money…IF Trump is actually going to attempt something of the sort (which I am against btw), then perhaps it could be via a tax rebate / credit.

In short…only TAXPAYERS catch a small break, not everyone with a hand out.

It would need to be a deduction.

People who don't pay taxes love credits. They get straight cash homie. That's why tax return season is so celebrated in poor areas of non-tax payers.

This is—among a long list of stupid things—the stupidest thing that populists say.

We live in a society with the highest standard of living that has ever existed on this planet. The least racism, the most recourse for civil rights, the most opportunity, the highest level of technology and comfort and luxury, etc.

And conservative principles have been responsible for most of that achievement. Probably most notably they have been responsible for minimizing the degree to which leftists have been able to sabotage it in modernity.

This narrative of, "We HAD to embrace leftist policies as idiot populists, because conservative policies have gotten us nowhere" is the most obviously false, stupidest narrative you guys mindlessly cling to.
