For real though, i love Moana and this is sad.

Also sad that this lecturer is teaching the next generation.

What kind of sick-in-the-head individual thinks this kind of shite up?

It must be a confirmation bias kind of thing, where she assumes it's there before seeing it and makes the movie fit that narrative in her head.

What. the. frick.

Exhibit 193877547285 of the fact that our lives are so devoid of stress that we have to imagine and create it.

This quote has never been more relevant than it is to SJW culture:

quote:

Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world? Where none suffered, where everyone would be happy. It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through suffering and misery. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from.

[quote]So a film with no white people in it is about western oppression[quote]. So true.

Writer may be on to something about western rape culture.

Girl comes over to guys island or house. Grabs him by the ear, tells him he’s going to do what she tells him and needs him to do. Then he goes, according to her wish. They spend many nights in the same boat.

The she could easily accuse him of rape. This happens in western culture all the time.

It's a neocolonialisitic metaphor. If you can't see that, I don't know how to help you.

Progs are aggrieved permanently. It's due to their mental illness.

So the thesis is that Western patriarchy/aggression

1. Assaults the feminine
2. Assaults nature and the environment
3. Assaults indigenous people

I can see this thesis being built around Maui, as there are inherent power struggles at play between him and all three of those. What I don't see is Maui being indicative of the Western ideal.

This is no different than all the incest analyses of Hamlet, though. Humanities professors frequently use popular works to illustrate their preferred theories. When I was in college, there was an entire class focused on Harry Potter nearly every semester.
