It is absolutely astounding that Jamele Hill escaped the layoffs.

I am surprised that you are astounded. Jemele is the executives' of ESPN biggest star. SHe has been made the female face of the network. Iger (the CEO of disney) and John SKipper (ESPN VP) LOOOOOVE her.

I feel good that I have no idea who this person is.

I envy you. I haven't watched regular ESPN programming in years, but I know who this poster child for Affirmative Action is.

You guys do know that being an ESPN on air talking head is a schtick right?

Yes. It is a schtick I would like to see done away with. I no longer watch ESPN outside of live sports because I do not like watching their talking heads. I used to watch all the time, as background noise, for highlights, even into our modern era. Why? Because even though the internet puts every highlight at the tip of your fingers and on your smart phone at all times, you have to hunt for them. You have to wade through endless ads and slideshows and alerts. It was nice to just turn on sportscenter and get highlights, dumb jokes, scores, and a quick synopsis of how those scores could impact playoff races, recruiting, or what not.

Once Sportscenter became "Guess what so and so said on twitter!!!" I stopped watching. Social media tells me that. I hate that. I don't want to see that on TV. I understand that they're just trying to fill time, but they started doing that crap INSTEAD of covering highlights and scores and analysis. They started having constant debate shows to fill time that only talked about these issues. I stopped watching ESPN as background noise.

Then, college gameday became an extra hour long and started adding all of these human interest pieces about how so and so got cancer and his buddy died in Iraq and how he had to train cats to pull him in a chariot so he could go to physical therapy to return to being a rodeo clown. I DON'T F&%KING CARE!!!! I want to hear about how teams matchup to one another. What are their strengths and weaknesses. How do these matchups affect the national landscape. How do the personalities of the coaches and scheme come into play? This is when I stopped watching Gameday and NFL Live and all other shows outside of live sports.

Then, ESPN started getting very very political, pushing extreme left-wing politics. At first, I could dismiss it, because it was only in the context of sporting events. Then, it was shoehorned into EVERYTHING! They were replacing coverage of scores and highlights and matchups into pure political diatribes. Once this started, I severely cut back on the number of live sports I watch. I watch very little on ESPN now outside of college football, and less than 1/3 of the games I used to watch. That network has become trash in my eyes.

Of course they love the racist bitch.

The puppet is giving her puppet-masters exactly what they want by simply being herself.

ESPN is a complete mess.

The sad thing is they seem to know it too and just don't care.

People are cutting the cord, and ESPN made terrible television deals with the sports leagues.

And my point is sports is one of the very few reasons people keep cable around today. If you no longer care about watching sports, you're more likely to cut the cord.

It amazes me how many people can't see the link here.

I can't believe she's even discussing that- she should be fired for it.

Please dear God, let directv go back into contract negotiations with ESPN. I hope they are flooded with viewer complaints and either yank the channel or pay them 1/8th of the asking price.

There is big jump from not wanting to watch filler program on ESPN because of politics and not wanting to watch your college, MLB, NFL, or NBA team.

How can we catch LSU games on ESPN by cutting the cord and without subscribing to satellite or cable?

ESPN is going down; just like any Public Group holding anti-American sentiments which they openly express. Supporting an overtly racist organization like BLM is a good way to hurry the inevitable demise. Good riddance.

LSU and major Programs had best rethink their affiliation with ESPN or demand redress; they will be getting an earful from the viewership in due time.

They screwed up when they decided to get in the political arena and support SJW causes.

LSU and the rest of the SEC can't hear you as the count their SEC Network money and bowl game money. Who else will they affilate with that will put all their games on tv, put sports other than football on tv and pay them a lot of money to do it.

They would be have three same problems regardless. Now maybe that makes it worse, but their issues go well beyond politics.

I'm more astounded at Jemele's horrible grammar and spelling. Whether she is considered a journalist, or not, she works for a news organization.

True, Dizz; ESPN does indeed hold the financial reigns of power...for now. But as the technology changes and access for a more personalized viewership becomes available, pressure will mount on ESPN to either change to address the demands of their Viewers...or the Viewers will find a way to leave ESPN. At that point, ESPN will no longer have the $ to pay major Programs for the Games.

Patriotic people who realize the gravity of our Nation's (engineered) division per the Progressive 'divide and conquer' political strategy (Alinsky) will NOT let this go. Just a matter of time; and with Trump pushing the whole thing Right...it'll happen a lot faster. No way ESPN holds on to that hot potato...for long.

You're fooling yourself if you don't think ESPN's left-wing political agenda isn't playing a major role in all of this.

They're doubling down on it, too (the left-wing political activism - hell, I doubt even most progressive sports fans give a shite what the talking heads or jocks think about political issues). Once the NFL and NBA figure out how to bypass them and market themselves directly to the public via apps, subscriptions, etc. (which they're already well on their way to doing), ESPN is fricked.
