And the leak fueled the media hoax. That was his intention. He was trying to sabotage Trump's presidency.
OK, but what does that have to do with this indictment. Who was Person 3 if not Andrew McCabe and what leak did that person make?
Some of y'all can't separate feelings from facts.
I'm not sure that I am right, but I think the indictment was just over the Clinton email stories...which were favorable for Trump. No one has offered any facts to dispute that.
I guess we'll see as the case progresses.

as you know, there is a large stickied thread on this already.

Cudos to IvoryBillMatt for digging in a bit. Got an upvote from me.
I agree with Rebel: "Problem is Comey perjured himself so often, people are confused."
Could be several reasons that is what they are going with for now. 1) that could be the leak they can bast prove. 2) that might be the first leak so it has the quickest timeline for the Statue of Limitations.
Also Agree with Nosevens: " I would think that they will be piling on charges very soon". Charges for later leaks could still be to come.
Hate that almost everyone here goes straight into attack mode. If IvoryBillMatt is correcct, it is something we should be aware of.

Thanks. I do. I thought asking the specific question in a different thread might generate some specific answers.
FWIW, I asked AI and got this answer...maybe I should have done that first. Despite all the flak I get, I thought someone might have seen a different theory about who "Person One" is in the indictment.
I thought more people would be surprised that the alleged leak that might bring down Comey criminally was a leak that helped Trump.

lol 'news from the left news from the right' LOLOL
AI admitting its nothing more than a shill for whoever programmed the algorithm.
so we can effectively call AI for social and political issues, DEAD.

Person 3 is Comeys boyfriend professor from Columbia who then went to the media, specifically the NYT.
Comey "hired" him at the FBI to avoid FBI guidelines and laws.
So he either knowingly leaked and approved the leak to an FBI employee, or he leaked to a person outside the FBI, for the same purpose, then lied about it.

The one he is being indicted over was about the handling of her emails.
So, you're noting that I was right in my assumption got 8 upvotes and no downvotes. My post where I showed most of my homework got 4 upvotes and 56 downvotes.
Crazy place.

That is just a filter option for news searching on "Brave." It doesn't filter unless you select left or right. The AI is (supposedly) neutral. Mine would skew right based on my preferences.

If you go back and watch old testimony he gave to the Senate you’d know they were setting him up to prosecute down the road because they knew he was LYING to them under oath. They just needed a DoJ to prosecute. It’s that fricking simple.

Thanks, Bronco, that might work, except Cruz was pretty clear that he was talking about the WSJ/Clinton email story.

I agree with that. You think the Clinton emails leak was the only one they could prosecute now because of statute of limitations problems?

quote:Have you reviewed Comey's 2020 testimony. That is the basis for the indictment. He's accused of making false statements to Congress regarding the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, and obstruction of a congressional proceeding in connection with that testimony.
Not in this indictment. Read it.
Review it. It was a frigging disaster.

Aggie Hank was a big Comey supporter.

There are multiple leaks. He's being prosecuted for lying about his role in those leaks, and obstructing investigations of them
According to the indictment, he is only being prosecuted for his actions on September 30, 2020. Comey is no doubt guilty of lots of bad stuff, but he's not being charged with that.
Here's the Obstruction of Congress charge:
COUNTTWO
Obstruction of a Congressional proceeding
[18U.S.C. § 1505]
4. On or about September 30,2020, in the Eastern District ofVirginia, the defendant, JAMES
B. COMEY JR. did corruptly endeavor to influence, obstruct and impede the due and
proper exercise of the power of inquiry under which an investigation was being had before
the Senate Judiciary Committee by making false and misleading statements before that
conunittee.
5. All in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1505.

He's getting prosecuted for lying to Congress under oath, which he did

I did review his 2020 testimony. It was a disaster. Unfortunately, the RussiaGate stuff was proposed to the Grand Jury, and they rejected it. All that remains is the Clinton email story leak.
Now, maybe they can get into all the RussiaGate hoax stuff in testimony, but Comey doesn't appear to being charged with that in the indictment.
