Are you just ignoring that Venezuela was a Democracy for 40 years until oil prices collapsed and ultimately opened the door for Chavez?

Exactly! The Trump administration didn’t oversee a single one of those either obviously. This will be different because they refuse to fail.

This is just the beginning. You're planting a flag in Act 1 of a 10-Act play.

There is a video of Hillary saying we came, we saw, he died. Talking about killing gadaffi. She was giddy. Libya collapsed after that. It had the highest standard of living in Africa before. Now a wasteland. Who knows what power vacuums leads too. Maduro was a bad guy.

On the surface. Happy.

Concerned about what’s to come based on our history with this kind of thing.

Maybe this involved more careful planning than tariffs.

Again, even this references the door opening for Chavez.

The religion part triggers people, so we can just look to the development of CA/SA, and it's similar to that of the ME. These countries are often structurally fricked up due to consolidation of power/resources at the top, from the Spanish onward. Resource-heavy with a history of dictatorial/authoritarian/oligarchal regimes, from the Spanish onward.

Just look at things like historical rates of private property ownership. A very small population own the land and resources. This leads to socialist-populist uprisings that consolidate power to punish them. This leads to rightwing uprisings to counter the Communists to punish them. Over and over and over again.

Just like the ME and their social-religious sects circulating power and punishment

I don’t think we will turn our back on Venezuela again after this, and our influence will be obvious over the next decade. Time will tell whether that ends up being positive or negative, but we can’t afford to let China and Russia have not just an ally so close to us, but one with such an abundance of oil.

China only has about 25 billion barrels of crude reserves. They needed Venezuela, and now that we control it, China will have to factor that in when considering the risks of invading Taiwan and facing sanctions.

That's not to even mention Iran and Russia and their interest in Venezuela

For those reasons, we can't let Venezuela fail like other regime changes due to the failure of the 70s CIA and the effects of the Cold War.

Then just look to our history of meddling in South/Central America

I’d argue that every military action taken by Trump has been done so with great concern for the failures of previous administrations. He’s earned some benefit of the doubt.

You’re just mad no one believes your leftist drivel. You act like your post in other threads aren’t visible. You leftist have cried about taking Maduro out since it’s happened. If Joe Biden had the mental capacity to deliver this result, you and the other leftist on this board would be clapping like retarded seals. Y’all can’t be happy for America (or the Venezuelan people) since it was Trump who advanced the ball over one of your leftist overlords

I will know whether I’m happy after a while when I see if misery and suffering increases or decreases. Getting rid of him is good but the situation isn’t without risk of deteriorating, and it’s on the USA if it gets worse.

It is too complex to know. Maduro is a bad guy and Venezuelans are happy he is gone. When it comes to regime change we are the bad guy. We outright admitted we are taking over the largest reserve of oil and I have to think minerals are next. For you hard-core Republicans you can bet China and Russia funnel a lot of money to dem campaigns now
