The previous strike was successful in taking out their nuclear program
The strike on Iran's nuke facility slowed down their development of a nuke but it didn't "take out" their nuke capability.
Plus, the Ayatollah has ordered the ramp up of developing ICBMs to deliver a nuke when the time comes.

Maybe it’s best to wipe out the regime while we can before they continue to be a thorn in our side forever and, eventually, develop a nuke.

Because Bibi said so and Israel owns our government.

In the 1970's the US gave 3 billion (8 billion in todays dollars) to the Mujahideen (The Taliban).
Their country had been invaded and overrun by the Soviet Union - our biggest geopolitical foe during that era. Not only that, the Mujahideen weren't exporting terrorism to the four corners of the earth during that period. They were simply defending their homeland from invasion.
With all of that said, that doesn't mean we haven't made our mistakes and supported terrible people in the past to achieve our own ends. That being said, I don't think we have ever supported groups of people for the sole purpose of wiping an entire nation off the face of the earth to include its population. So please spare me the whataboutisms.
Let's also ignore the fact that they have been engaged in the killing of their own citizenry, potentially in their tens of thousands, since the beginning of the year.

quote:I will not disagree with any of this. I will add this though. If all of these things are true, are there any questions as to the timing of Netanyahu’s visit and the immediate aggressive stance we resumed thereafter? The protests almost immediately after the talks that quickly turned violent can be chalked up to coincidence, but nonetheless suspicion about the quickness of these (unrelated?) events doesn’t seem irrational.
Realpolitik-They are our geopolitical enemy. They have kidnapped and murdered us for decades. They have brought Shia fundamentalist violence to all their Sunni neighbors, destabilized the region, and kept Israel and Yemen and Lebanon and others so unstable through proxy groups like Hezbollah, that we have to spend untold billions maintaining peace and securing shipping in the region. We also finally have the Saudi Kingdom ready to do peace accords that can change the region and stabilize the entire region and make it infinitely more prosperous and freer. And a King who loathes Iran and is ready for post-Mullah peace. And Iran is tottering. So yeah, it's what we've been waiting for-our mortal enemy at its weakest point and an opportunity for regional stability we would not be likely to see again for decade. Pretty simple. We have the power to achieve this-Trump understands that-and so we wait. Theoretically, the Mullahs could always abdicate and make this all a moot point, right?

The arc of history is long and unpredictable. We could look back at this moment in 50 years and declare it either a positive or negative turning point. But nothing after this will ever be the same.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is a mortal enemy of the United States. They want nothing short of death to America (and in fact chant as much every single day). They also fund and prop up other enemies of the United States. You don't get too many opportunities to take out your enemies. This is one, and it must be seized.
I'm already popping the popcorn for the weekend.

I believe the massive build up of our naval armada Is posturing and intimidation to try and force Iran into a deal

I am in my late 60's. We have been going to war in the middle east with the wrong people.
The mullahs have exported their lunacy to the rest of the world and will continue, if they remain in power. They nearly completed a nuclear weapon and if given enough time will eventually succeed. At a minimum the mullahs have to go.

I don't believe we are. I do believe it would be a GREAT thing if all you soy-bois got drafted into the military. Might turn some of you away from the soy and into men.

I mean, Israel as the source of ALL things puppeteering, clandestine, nefarious, scheming and conniving is kind of mother's milk to a very large percentage of the American Right in 2026. Including the most vocal portion of this board. So, if people want to chalk up eliminating the reality of 50 years of Mullah-terror and violence aimed directly at the US as stemming from a single meeting with Netanyahu, well so be it. We have been waiting for this moment, through the administrations of both parties, and now it is here. And The Saudi Kingdom is every bit as engaged in this as Israel is, just in a political way. The Sunni country ruling class are tired of this shite and events have conspired to give us this opportunity. It is genuinely a historic opportunity for peace between Sunni-Shia-The Saudi Kingdom and Iran- every bit as much as the Jews of Israel.

Latest reports has it off the coast of Morocco, which means it's likely about to go through the Strait of Gibraltar.
