The difference between retail polling and internal polling is internal polling comes with scientific analysis. Retail polling comes with news media “analysis”.
Internal polling is probably better (more money spent, access to more voter information), but you know that retail pollsters are instituting scientific polls and they’re usually pretty accurate on the aggregate and that Biden does have the advantage, even if tightens.

No offense but Washington insiders don’t have a clue about the pulse of the American people. I have a friend who worked for a Senator and told me in 2016 (post election) that the whole Russia thing was legitimate and that Trump was in major trouble.

It was obvious to anyone with half a brain that it was all contrived BS.

No offense taken. This guy called the Trump win in 2016 very early on. I get what you are saying and anything is possible, but this guy is normally spot on.

I think people are erroneously conflating 2016 and 2020. Lots of different dynamics now.

We saw it on this board in 2012, where a guy had a solid source that said Romney's internals had him winning all the way up to the day of the election, but tanked as people were voting.
Joshua Chamberlain...will never forget that. He disappeared for awhile after that.

That really has nothing to do with whether he has a pulse of the American people or not since believe a story is factually true or not is not the same as knowing what middle America believes. Besides I’m sure a lot of people in his shoes would have been more likely to believe it, especially in 2016 before the story for covered extensively and more facts emerged.

Follow the money, and follow the VP/POTUS. Ad buys and in person campaigning. Biden keeps showing up in WI and PA because he's behind. Trump is campaigning in VA because their internal numbers tell them something.

Nancy calling out the riots finally and they essentially disappear. A near total absence of the Dems crowing about impeachment which should be their primary position (but for the fact that it was bullshite and they know it wasn’t well received). The states they’re visiting. The recent call for the 25th Amendment. I think the signs clearly show that the internal polls tell a much different story than the media sponsored polls.

Great point. If the Dems were really convinced that the polls were correct, they could certainly put up with OMB for the remainder of his term. I mean, why would they be so adamant about shortening his Presidency by less than 100 days?

Besides, if Joe "The Human Gaffe Machine" Biden was really +15 in the polls, they wouldn't be doing this stupid bus tour. They would be keeping that brain-fogged bastard in Michael Jackson's old hyperbaric chamber 24/7.

I don't have any personal, first-hand polling data, but the Dems sure seem WORRIED to me.

I’m just relaying information. His job, and those in his firm, rest on the ability to read the tea leaves and guide his clients forward. He’s a conservative and is advising his clients to prepare for a Biden/Harris presidency.

I believe you. I’m referring to the poster who questioned if could know the pulse of middle America because of his experience with an insider who thought Russia stuff was going to cause Trump problems. Doesn’t really have anything really to do with knowing their pulse.

Besides, the only way to get an accurate estimate of that pulse is through representative data, and it sounds like that’s what your friend is basing it on.

Why do the Dems want three debates? Seems like they very easily could have just said, “Fine, we will only have two” when Trump said no to a virtual debate.

Word is Trump is going to Florida on Saturday and has been pushing his aides hard to let him out of quarantine to campaign. He knows he's behind.

I voted for Trump but didn’t think he would win in 2016. I suspect there were many likely Trump voters who stayed home because the polls said HRC had it. That’s not going to happen again. The Trump people are fired up and many are flying below radar, so they aren’t being truthful with pollsters. Trump will also do better among minorities. There’s still an enthusiasm gap concerning Biden. I was talking to a far left guy that I’ve known for more than 20 years. He considers Biden a corporatist and isn’t voting for him and will vote for an obscure candidate. Not that he likes Trump, but he would rather remake the Dims in 2024 than put up with 8 years of the old guard wing of the Dims in the White House.
