Like I said 1,409 people pay more than then bottom 70,000,000. If you think its equal... I don't know what to tell you. You suck at math.

Unless you've got a graduate degree in an engineering discipline, I probably know math better than you.

And you suck at logic. All over this discussion.

So... measuring political clout by income seems like a stupid concept.

Sure.

The government has instituted massive transfer of revenue FROM "the rich" TO "the poor".

Then why are you showing a graph showing a short list of transfer payments from all tax payers?

So now post the graph that shows the percentage of payroll taxes the rich pay - payroll taxes being about a third of taxes collected by the federal government.

Remember we're not being dumb here. I asked about total taxes, not income taxes only.

So you want to include state taxes in a discussion about federal taxes?

Income taxes represent about half of all taxes collected by the federal government.

The top 1% of income tax earners pay between 35 and 40 percent of the nation's income taxes.

And how much of national income do they earn?

You understand what I'm asking, right? And to be clear, I don't know the answer ... that's why I'm asking.

But before we get excited about the 1% paying 35% of income taxes, shouldn't we know if they earn 35% (or is it 10%) of national income?

About 20%.

So, so they're paying about double their fair share?

While the bottom 50% pay, essentially, nothing in income tax.

Why do you guys have such a problem with a discussion/debate. You argue like the Left.

I think this is a better representation of who pays what.

Flat tax.

Some things don’t need to be so damn complicated.

It's not a better representation of income taxes - which is the topic of the OP.

If you want to start a topic on how "regressive" payroll taxes are, feel free.

Really doesn’t matter since payroll taxes are flat-rate, income capped, and most of the money paid in is paid out at proportional rates.
