In other news...DOJ intervenes in Jackson water fiasco
Posted by udtiger

LINK
Appoints a third-party administrator over the water system and files suit - pending a consent decree with DOJ, Jackson and State of Mississippi.
Also, apparently, the NAACP filed suit in federal court alleging the State of Mississippi discriminated against Jackson.
Yes...apparently refusing to give an incompetent and corrupt government even more state money to piss away or steal = racism.

How?
By allowing black people to be in charge of the city and its utilities?
Correct

They should have a congressional hearing and put Bennie Thompson in charge of it....

The state should have known it would all go tits up and stopped stopped them, but all that equity got turned loose on a town that is 87% of a single race.

At first I thought you were gonna say they hired a third party to investigate whether there was any white people they could blame and press charges against!

It was over federal funds that the state received. The city of Jackson requested the funds for their water infrastructure and apparently don’t think they received their fair share.

Again...not handing over money to be wasted or stolen is not racism.
And when the audit from the Feds shows the money was wasted or stolen...it ain't the City of Jackson that gets popped, it's the State of Mississippi

You want the equity? You can’t handle the equity!

Not at all. I don’t know enough about the situation to really have an opinion. Just posted that for clarity

Step back and read this again.
This article is basically saying even the liberal Biden administration agrees Jackson is not running its water system the way it should. They are taking the management of the system out of the hands of the mayor.
Now the mayors friends are trying to deflect this obvious put down by filing these lawsuits. Of course the mayor is glad he doesn’t have to run the system if he can deflect the criticism.
it’s a heck of a deal when Garland sees an idiot democrat and intervenes.
(Reeves, BTW, looks more and more like the best governor in the South.)

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, a Republican, said Tuesday that the Jackson water problems were caused by a “crisis of incompetence” in the Democratic-led city. “It is excellent news for anyone who cares about the people of Jackson that the mayor will no longer be overseeing the city’s water system,” Reeves said.
