And that strange thing is that there have been several pretty smart people here that have drastically changed their political ideology from the left to more right leaning. In a couple of cases, very right leaning. But I have yet to notice anyone going from the right to a more left leaning position. If anyone has done that, I guess that I missed it.

Can someone point out a case where that has happened? I just find it kind of curious.

That’s folks growing older and wiser. Another factor could be people lose some of the indoctrination/programming the longer they’re out of college too.

Old saying:

Liberal at twenty - soft in the heart, liberal at forty - soft in the head.

Its kind of funny to remember some of SFP’s old posts. He was a young firebrand for the left. A one man movement. It was glorious.

People generally get wiser as they get older. Of course, there are a few exceptions.

EZ’s gradual awakening was an interesting thing to watch. Like watching a slow metamorphosis.

I don't know about completely changing stripes, but a few have tried to dramatically take on this goofy tsk tsky contrarian role sort of overnight at times. Jersey Tiger who went poof was sort of the first to do so. Powerman, who was always sort of a worshiping lap dog of his, tried to take it on and still does on occasion, but not so much or so well. That CollegeFBR guy will sometimes drop in and condescend upon us unwashed masses as to how he sees beyond "the Board's" current rabid right wing bent that he is now well stationed above.

That's three I've noticed.

True. Those three do come to mind. I agree with your assessment and would add that they were always prone to take a contrarian position on any given topic unless it was just logically impossible for them to do so.

So I’m not really sure that they qualify. But good call.

As I posted in another thread, I started out somewhat liberal...especially after getting a BA and MA in Political Science. Worked as a government contractor with aspirations of a civil service career. Had an internship with the SSA, and another lined up with the GAO.

Decided to join the Army as an officer instead. Ended up in some unusual assignments. Saw the government (specifically the career bureaucrats...to include State) for how it really was, to include massive corruption.

I'm now a hardcore libertarian who will never step foot inside another government agency as long as I live. The rot is terminal.

It wasn't so much being contrarian as that they all seemed to flip a switch and take on this odd schoolmarm persona about it overnight - each at different junctures.

If no one's noticed, it's the board persona I find most off-putting.

There have been plenty of right minded people on here that refused to vote for Rispone. Not that JBE was the best vote, but the better one of the two
