I'm too critical of tv shows and movies now because of DEI.

Lately, any time I start looking for a new series, or movie, to watch I can't get passed the dei crap.

For instance, if I see something that has a minority lead, I immediately think "DEI". I was just fine with Chris Evans' Captain America.

That also applies to women. I liked John Wick with Keanu Reeves, not some chick.

I didn't use to be this way. And it sucks because I'm sure I'm missing good stuff, but I refuse to support this brand of Hollywood.

I know that the only one suffering is me, but I just can't bring myself to participate in this lunacy.

The DEI crap helps you know which shows to not watch. Unfortunately it's most shows.

Yep. Most shows like that are "seldom seen" at my house.

It’s not necessarily the DEI on screen as much as it is in the writers room.

In Shawshank Redemption, Red was supposed to be a white guy. But I couldn’t imagine anyone besides Morgan Freeman being him because of how good he was and how good the movie was.

The problem is the writers just aren’t very good.

I cannot enjoy any movie that has strong beautiful women beating up men.

Sicario on the other hand was perfect. The strong beautiful woman got put in her place/arse kicked 4 times by men.

*Speaking of Wick, they tried to frick it up with Berry. At least she was a small part. Yet killed more guys than Wick in that scene iirc...

As soon as something I watching starts to turn characters that are one thing in the source material into something new I’m done with the show.

Also throw in a transgender and I’m turning it off for sure

The Witcher ruined season 3 with this nonsense

I can’t watch anything on mainstream channels like abc, cbs, nbc, etc because it’s all fake

I totally agree. I like Morgan Freeman, Denzel, and Samual L Jackson. In the past, I'd watch anything with one of those fellas in it.

It's a feeling of being forced to do something you don't want to do, but can't avoid it.

We cut the cord but I really only Hulu Netflix and max.

A lot of that being old stuff like X-files and king of the hill or stuff from military or history channel.

I did turn off Australian alone when I saw mask and covid test on a show about surviving in the wild.

I find myself avoiding action shows with a female lead that can defeat five special forces ninjas and not break a sweat.. I've got nothing against female action characters per se, but I'm a guy and I'd prefer to watch a guy movie, not some woman emasculated every male she encounters.

You are not alone. It’s all artificial and ingenious what they have been doing. The only history they are creating is a dark age in creativity.

It depends for me, like someone mentioned it depends on the writer.
But also it depends on the background.

Movie set in modern day America?
Black Leads White leads, Asian leads - Works
Women beating up jacked men 2x their size - Does not work

Super Hero/Fantasy Movie
Women with super powers beating up jacked men 2x their size - Works
Taking a character or group known to be a race and race swapping - Does not work

Historical movies
Characters should at least be similar to what was known.
OR
Have to go full on with the comedy or social commentary: AKA Hamilton

I've wondered if that isn't part of the draw to Sheridan shows.

While he may have some boss bitches, they are not physically strong for the most part. See Beth Dutton; Over the top bitch. Was getting raped in her office before Rip saved her.

In Landman the lawyer showed out as a boss bitch then got firmly knocked down a couple shows later.

*Haven't watche3d Lioness as it sounds like the exact thing I avoid.
