Basically the only people who want to continue the current rush to hell on earth are those very few who are making money off it and I know one who is. And the seriously TDS challenged who "THINK" they had rather live like the poor devils in the Baltimore slums with rats for pets and no heating and air than face their team losing.
If we go back to work tomorrow there is still going to be serious fallout that touches every family in America and destroys many lives. We old people die. I'm not exited about it but have come to grips. I just don't want to die in a miserable situation. Every day adds to the misery. And we're doing this to our people with very little upside to be gained.
* Old and the already seriously unhealthy die daily. If you are a member of either group you will soon be gone. So the only real threat to you is staying shut down so you can die in squalor.
* Almost to a person the thing is a 14 day trip to timeout with almost zero effect or a week's bad cold. GTFO.
* Get back to work and in the long odds chance you catch it take 2 weeks sick leave and get paid and congrats you are now bullet proof.

There was nothing gained by shutting every down, nothing.
Its not an economic vs virus, its common sense. If the virus was not near saturation, when you lift the restrictions it will come back and peak again... if the virus is reaching saturation (i.e. its been around a long time) than shutting it down actually hurts the herd immunity.
Nothing was ever going to be gained.
Shutting down easy access to elder sick should have been the priority i.e. nursing homes.

Why didn’t businesses have more working capital and liquidity? That is my question. Everyone just thought cash flow was ok and sadly many businesses weren’t prepared. Been preaching it for years but no one is forward thinking or risk averse enough. It can happen. Eyes should be wide open now.
It has been what, three weeks, and people are talking about going out of business. I’m sorry, but if you don’t have liquidity to cover one month’s expenses, you were ill prepared and only had profit in mind and not the financial health of your business.

but the notion that going to the barber is more dangerous than flying or Lowe’s is retarded
Agreed
It should be up to the barber and clients to assess the risk on their own

Think it’s finally becoming mainstream outside of the poli board and other right wing circles that this thing is getting ridiculous. 17 million jobs and counting for a death toll now projected to be around the average suicide rate per year. I think any politician pitching shutdown longer than the start of or mid May would be in serious trouble right now.
Idk, the Karens on the OT were pissed that guy in central held a church service.
ETA: Those frickers are still at it if you go look at the Ky Gov thread. Bunch of people pissed that adults took their kids to the store with them. THE HORRORS!
