He was a good guy.
He was not good at foreign policies.
I remember Billy Beer and different flags at the gas station that meant they had gas, low on gas, or no gas.
The long gas lines.

Yes... carter had awful policies. But he was doomed to fail from the start because the swamp couldnt allow an outsider to work (or else more would be elected). And we were left with 20 years of Bushes and Clintons (you can add 4 years of biden to that). Trump is the only president the last 40 years elected to change the swamp (like carter).

I knew a guy who was a designated IBM tech in the Congress building in the 70s. He said midway through the Carter Administration there was a major renovation project of some top floor vacant rooms that were being used for storage and he and other tech and maintenance workers were working overtime doing a major overhaul with all kinds of equipment and services brought in. He had no idea what the hell was going on only that it seemed rushed and top secret. He knew the phone tech guy pretty well and noticed there were a lot of unusual people working on installing new phone lines. He asked the phone tech what was going on and the guy told him the government had lost confidence in Carter and they were essentially constructing a new West Wing so Tip O'Neil, a few Senators and some other government officials could bypass the White House and run the Executive Branch from afar while Carter posed for photos with the girl scout who sold the most cookies or the President of some banana republic. Guy said whenever he went up there to fix something it was like going to CIA headquarters - extra security measures and they had to hide or cover up a bunch of stuff before he went in the rooms.
