The problem with the "black community" is that the best and brightest, the would-be role models, the ones that could run businesses and keep wealth in the community are quick to move out to the "good school districts" and leave the rest behind.
That's the result of desegregation. My grandparents aren't educated but due to segregation their neighbors were cops, teachers, and a medical doctor. So, my grandparents kids were surrounded by others who could give them what my grandparents could not. And, 4/5 of my grandparents kids are college educated professionals with my uncle being a veteran welder.
Frankly, nowadays, it's to the point that the lower class Blacks are so envious of educated/skilled Blacks if you're around them too much you might get killed or robbed. It's not worth the trouble.

You don’t hear about those because educated/gainfully employed black people don’t actually exist in this racist, oppressive country! Just ask famous, millionaire black basketball player LeBron (King) James! America doesn’t love black peoples. So there are no successful black people for cops to kill in America.

Frankly these conversations need to happen. If more Blacks were told to their faces by Whites and other non-Blacks that they care too much about the very people who would victimize them maybe more would stop. Some Blacks just tell me "N word you think you're White."

This is utter BS.
The problem with any community that struggles, regardless of race, is the breakdown of the family unit. Families that stay together and fathers that are there to teach their children a work ethic, respect for others and life, accountability to themselves and their families, have a much better chance to make it.
Go to any place in the world, and you will find that people with that mindset are not getting into trouble and causing problems. They are taking care of themselves and their families. They may still be poor, but they are good, upstanding citizens.
My home is filled each weekend with kids of different races. ALL OF THEM come from families where the mother and father are actively involved in their children's lives.
If any race wants to improve their own community, it starts by preaching being accountable for yourself, your family and your community.

I'm black. I don't support black criminals. So, I don't support George Floyd
That said. Floyd can be a POS criminal, and sill be have been wrongfully killed. Both can be (and IMHO are) true.

Prayers up for this guy, as he's about to become a leper in his own family.
Seriously. That couldn't have been easy for you.

I think one of the biggest problems within the black community is that the ones that are the most successful play too much into the racism arguments. Why didn't the ones that are stuck in poverty and came from similar backgrounds not improve there lives...

This is dumb. I am also black. I subscribe to the idea that you don’t have to be a perfect Boy Scout to have the right to not be slowly suffocated over the course of 10 minutes by a cop’s knee to the back of your throat.

AAs lost their mind around the 1960s.

I never said anything regarding whether the guy deserved to die. I simply said this man was troubled, had a disturbing criminal history, and created bad karma for himself. And, the reason many Black people hate to hear about the criminal histories of so many Black men who die due to a run-in with the police is because they know deep down these guys are typically foolish.

It's a strange position. I know many professional Black people who have went to great universities, smart as a whip, married, financially successful, morally upright, yet they take up for such troubled people like Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd. I tell them all the time one of the big issues in Black America is codependency; stop enabling fools.
Again, such “troubled” people don’t deserve to have the police (or in Arbery case, a citizen) be judge, jury, and executioner.

Your attitude is exactly the attitude I'm talking about. Stop deflecting. These guys are typically screw ups who would rob and kill you at the drop of a dime.

No doubt, its despicable and those killers should be punished.
I think Shaft is saying that these people put themselves in a bad situation to begin with though.
