People tend to vote for people that they feel they have something in common with- economic beliefs, religious beliefs, or that look like them and their neighbors.
Just what does A Somali woman with fringe Muslim extemist views have in common with any white or black Christian?

It’s not Muslim Guilt, it’s White Guilt. For a generation or more now we’ve been told that the White Man is the root of all evil - from third grade history books to college safe spaces, from teenage Disney shows to blockbuster feature films, from the morning paper to the evening news, from real estate agent who decries gentrification to presidential candidates. Eventually that kind of nonstop assault has an effect on a population.

Cedar-Riverside aka Little Mogadishu is in the 5th district as well as the U of MN and Augsburg college.
