As a child, the idea that everybody gets the same stuff and shares makes sense.
"When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things."
1 Corinthians 13:11

I can remember watching the Donoghue show at 12 and thinking these people are loons.
I've never been liberal.
I've never been liberal.

Were any of you also apparently heartless at 20? I can honestly say leftist bullshite has never appealed to me at all.
I thought I was a Democrat at 20. By 25 my views and opinions hadn't changed at all but I had realized that I'm a Constitutional conservative.

Eh, probably libertarianism for me. I did read a lot about Mumia and stuff like that at 16 or so, but I was never a lib by any stretch.
I think it's probably true that at 15-25 or so, it's healthy to be all over the place. Pushing boundaries, testing the strength of beliefs that someone passed to you, finding fault in conventional wisdom.
Then you begin working, owning a home, having children, taking roles in society/community. You begin to see the gray more clearly. You're not blind to the faults in the systems, but you have an understanding of how they developed and why they continue and make cost-benefit assessments for yourself. If you're building, you're resistant to those who would knock out the foundations your family exists upon, and very resistant to those who have less "skin in the game" than you.

I think you're a moron if you're ever a liberal.
What's hilarious is that at least half of the people posting stuff like this advocate for liberal policies, like tariffs.

I must have been heartless; I was a Reagan Republican for my 1st vote in 1984.

I've never seen those 2 ideas connected before, but you make perfect sense.

I was raised on Reagan, had a subscription to Bill Buckley's National Review at 14.....I've been like this from the womb.

Absolutely. Voted McCain when I was 19.

Possibly the only Democrat I've ever voted for was Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee (RIP). For those unfamiliar, he was a tough as nails sheriff, who was politically incorrect. He was the child of Chinese immigrants who ran a Chinese Restaurant in Metairie for many years called "The House of Lee". He was once a U.S. Magistrate. As sheriff, he once said "young black kids driving at night in white neighborhoods were up to no good". He got lots of pushback, including being called a "racist" (shocker). He told his critics that "as a federal magistrate, I freed so many black people, they called me the slant eyed Abraham Lincoln". He was a very colorful guy.

So did I but it is more than that. When I graduated college I was pro-choice, antichurch, and anti law enforcement. I now am a pro life church goer law enforcement supporter… but I have generally always voted conservative republican.

My first vote was for the Great Ronaldus Maximus in 84. I've been a conservative as far back as I can remember.
I will say, I've become more liberal on some social issues. I have zero problem with gay marriage. I have gay and lesbian friends that are good people, productive members of society, and want nothing except to be left alone.
The trans thing is a different issue altogether. Those people need help.

Nope. My parents raised me right. Liberals suck.

If you can't figure out how Trump's use of tariffs is pushing us toward more free trade for our country, then you're also a moron.
