Massie lacks the ability to trade his four dollars for your five dollars. The four dollars he's giving up is most important to him, even more than the fact that he got the better end of the bargain.

This is exactly why the Republicans fumbled the repeal of Obamacare back in 2016. Certain congressmen wanted all or nothing, to the point that we just about got nothing.

Trump campaigned on being the peace option, and no new wars.

Sure, he did. So now what? Am I supposed to drop all support for him based on a promise that I liked, but was smart enough to realize was dumb? Should I pretend the things he has delivered on didn't happen? Am I supposed to consider that maybe I should have supported Harris?

As for the war, my personal opinion is Trumps hand was forced (which is why I think it was a dumb promise). That can be debated for sure. But it's what I believe. I am cautiously optimistic on the whole thing. If this works out, it can change the world. To some extent, it already has worked out, but not enough for satisfaction.

Massie says it is up to Congress to declare war (and he is correct).

Sure, but that doesn't make what Trump did "illegal". It was fully within his authority to take the actions he took.

It's cool to oppose the war. But those who oppose it on those grounds only, or who choose to stick with this as their main talking point shouldn't be taken too seriously, IMO.

More like he didn't do anything unprecedented

this is the subject of the debate. The president needs the authority to defend the country without waiting for Congress to convene and vote. That is certain. However, like all powers, they get stretched to the limits of what is acceptable. Bombing Libya and bombing Iran are the same, neither country posed an immediate threat to the USA.

I opposed Obama then and refuse to gerrymander Trump's actions so I can feel better about it because I voted for the guy that brought peace to the ME in his first term and had every expectation he would continue that.

Thomas Massie — Republican, Kentucky House member
Trump alignment: 82%
Just FYI, that includes the T45 years. This term, that alignment number has plummeted drastically, dropping well into the 40%-50% range (lower on key administration priorities) according to Gemini AI. i.e., Roughly 1/2 of Massie's "91%" claim.

This is admitting you have no personal policy positions and just want to be on a team, instead.

No, it just means his policies align with Trump's. That's a nice attempt at spin, though. I guess your practice at defending democrats has paid off.

The guy who refuses to admit lawfare is real and can't distinguish globalism from global trade is in no position to be lecturing anyone about political issues.

I hope you weren't one of the guys melting about Kevin McCarthy or John Thune

So, because we are commenting about Massie's ineffective idealism, it means we can't also comment about McCarthy and Thune's ineffective corruption? You really are half as smart as you think you are.

I’m sure his replacement will be even better if it happens.

What, specifically, makes you believe this?

Very true and what's really crazy: Shitlibs drone about "muh Fox News" but can't acknowledge their favorite outlets have been doing the same thing (tailoring content to maximize views)

I get into arguments with some of my MSNBC watching family members about how terrible MSNBC is.. They 100% believe MSNBC is giving them factual, objective, non-biased real news with no spin. Then they angrily criticize FOX and FOX viewers.
