My comment was meant to illustrate that high performing workers feel no anxiety about this task because they know everyone already knows what they do and how they perform.

Anxiety isn't the issue.

This wastes the time of your high performers, which is counterproductive and irrational

It’ll take 5-10 minutes.

You're a delivery driver taking items around a large govt installation. You made your deliveries. Are you working at a high level or are you merely getting your assigned tasks completed?

You are a researcher and you completed a literature review for your next grant. Is that getting your job done or working at a high level?

You evaluate disability claims and got your allotment of claims done two weeks ago so this week you did overflow for people that were struggling or missed work due to illness, so you got about 10% of what others got done. Are you working at a high level or falling behind? How would anyone know if they just review what you did this week?

If you think someone's work performance can be captured by this snapshot, you are living in a fantasy land.
AI almost is fantasy land. Watch it.

That's an assumption. If you are dealing with a micromanager there's no indication that they would accept such a bare Bones summary. I've never met a micromanager who didn't want workers to waste their time providing details that justify the existence of the micromanager more than the employee

I’m just saying the timing of the email with the potential consequences Elon tweeted out don’t really go with the content of the email. If this would have come out last week (even later in the week) with an expectation of response on Monday then it would’ve been much more reasonable. Management would’ve had ample time to ensure employees were aware during normal work hours and provide guidance necessary. In this scenario, you will have management contacting employees like they would in an emergency situation to ensure they have the ability on the next working day to answer the email about what they did last week.

No it doesn't. It saves them time by trimming the people who waste their time.

I take more pride in my family than my job. I don’t get paid to be on call 24/7. If you want to volunteer your free time to answering work emails to prove you’re a “high performer,” do your thing. I consider answering emails to generally be a waste of my time.

He just tryin to see who reads their dam work email. He may get 5- 10% that do not reply because they do not exist to actually work. See how easy that was.

Or he might get people who are on leave or orders and have no need to check their .gov email. See how stupid that was?

This is the difference between a worker and a professional.

The micromanager wasting their time with the request is still around, or at least I presumed that was the point of the exercise.

We work from home

Everyone in my department emails our supervisor daily with what we did for the day.

I've never had a problem with it.

The request is not unreasonable by any means. The short time frame to respond with the threat of termination if not accomplished is very extreme for content of what is expected.

It shouldn't take someone five minutes to list five bullet points showing what they did for the week.

It's called accountability

I’m not constantly fretting about work emails when I’m at home. If that’s how you take pride in your work, great.

I think volunteering to be accessible to your boss for work when you’re not working is weird. Not everyone has to be a boot licker to maintain employment.

This is what sets apart low level employees from people whose time is actually valued. You’ll get there one day. I believe in you.

Did they send this talking point out, or is it just something everyone saw on Truth Social?

Low level employees do as little as possible and arent prepared before they show up at work.

High level employees take ownership of their position and use every advantage they have to succeed. Thats called professionalism.

You would make a perfect union employee. They only have to do the very min. required to keep their jobs.
