We aren’t giving anything to Russia. We are giving stuff to Ukraine.
Right now USA is playing the cool head approach. I still think this only ends with Russia holding Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk as a whole. Small price to pay. Ukraine doesn’t have the manpower and foreign troops would trigger escalation.

The only way to get someone like Putin off their game is to antagonize him. Aggravated people make mistakes. How you become the stone in his shoe is the trick.

So you have to give Russian what they already have. Putin has made it clear he isn't giving up any of the occupied territory so you have to at least give him that. And the longer this goes on the more territory Russian gains. Russian has been in a slug fest with Ukraine the last 3 years but they are on the verge on taking Pokrovsk which if they take that Ukraine's last major line of defense in the southern Donetsk Oblast will fall. As far as keeping any further advances from happening after the peace deal you leave that up to Europe.

All we should do is get them to the table - first ensuring that the money supply is done. They need to work out the peace agreement. Nothing is ours to give.

This is probably the most realistic path. And make sure you let the EU know to shut their mouths and fix their own damn countries.

Trump doesn't want to back a losing hand and that is exactly what Ukraine has always been. I've always been for bleeding Russia out as much as we possibly could as that would weaken them down the road and cut back on their invasion cycle. That being said, this was always their war to lose. We've accumulated a shite ton of date to deal with Russia and now everyone knows they cannot conduct a combined arms war. NATO would crush them if they triggered article V or used nukes. They are backed into a corner and we need to keep them hamstringed but happy

Only down side to doing a mineral deal with Russian right now instead of Ukraine is that a majority of the minerals are still in Ukraine controlled territory. So you either have to take a smaller cut than you would if you did the deal with Ukraine or hope Russia takes the whole country and is then still willing to cut a deal with us after.

To end the war, I'd be willing to give Russia all of our Hollywood celebrities and covid criminals. If they play hard ball, I'd throw in the illegals and ghetto trash.
