Ezekiel 36:26-27
New International Version
26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Has God done this in your life through genuine faith in his son Jesus Christ? Causing Godly sorrow leading to true repentance?

Depending on your denomination, your story is by far the exception. I've been Missionary Baptist all of my life and have never seen anything worth quitting church over. You can conjure up any excuse you want though.

I hate to break it to you, but the church is as corrupt as any organization can be. There is too much money at stake and there is too much power to be had. I come from a family of pretty strong believers who’ve probably not darkened the doorway of a church in over 20 years. I could give you countless examples of corruption and deceit going all the way back to the first church I attended, the same church my mom grew up in and where my mom and dad met. Every subsequent church we ever attended, had its own unique underbelly. I learned a long time ago that you do not need a physical church to believe in god up above. Even had this discussion with my parents last year and my mom finally understood why I was so against going to church even as a kid. I could also sense something was not right in these churches.

If you are waiting to find a perfect church before going back to church, I hate to tell you that will never happen.

If a non-believer waits to see a perfect Christian before converting, that will also never happen.

It’s a little naive to think the church which is run by sinners will ever live up to God’s perfect standards. Are some churches beyond repair and need to be rooted out? Yes. But for every church like that there is another one full of honest people all helping one another live out their lives for Christ. It might take effort, but there is a reason Paul wrote all those letters to churches and not individuals.

Like the nation, the SBC has a vacuum of statesmen right now. The old Resurgence veterans are all gone. We’re left with reformed political commentators, self-interested and power hungry bullies, and younger pastors trying to prove their bona fides to the culture.

And, on top it all, after a generation of trying our darndest to help black pastors build churches, after committing so much money and energy to this important cause, they are now about to leave over the stupidest of stupid garbage.

Thats a very generic description of what anyone would describe as dispensationalism. I would actually describe it as covenant theology.

Yes it is very basic but it is the beginning of understanding dispensations. I could have broken it down Old and New Testament. Which would be a little incorrect because much of Jesus’s ministry on earth was Moses’ Law based. That’s a much deeper dive probably not for this discussion.

I agree with many of you are looking for a church to be perfect or a man to be perfect you will be sorely disappointed. However turning to complete immortality by these Christian churches and accepting abominations unto God seems heretical to me. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread maybe that means we are flying toward the end. I’m ready been ready for the rapture.

Are you expecting us to be shocked that people sin?

As it relates to the Southern Baptist Church, I doubt that shocks anyone in this thread. We're talking about a separate religion (CRT) being voted on to take over the conference. Clearly, a segment of the SBC has completely given itself over to Satan for this to even be considered.

I left the SBC, but recognize its importance in orthodox (small o), Biblical Christianity in the US.

I think Moore is suspect, and I think Greer is a typical Christian leader too focused on modifying the Gospel to be relevant to the culture instead of presenting the Gospel as a cultural alternative. I do think Greer is an honorable man and not at all a heretic based on what I've seen from him and the pastors I know.

The Stone/Floyd stuff on sexual misconduct (their response/attitude, not their own conduct) is disconcerting, but I'm not in touch enough to know if those accounts are credible or assess their rebuttals. Will pray the correct decisions are made such that the SBC can keep those who'd use it for secular political advocacy out of the denomination.

The most ridiculous religion in all the world, and with the least evidence.

Are you equating evolution to a religion or Southern Baptists? There is more evidence for evolution than Chiristian beliefs, but as a Christian I have to take some things based on faith.

What primate? We didn’t come from monkey’s bro. We didn’t evolve from
Bacteria to some sea creature to a fish to some mammal to a monkey to an advanced monkey to human. Ludicrous. You know different species can’t mate with other species, correct?

If you believe in a billions of year old earth proven by the layers of the earth then how are standing trees that travel through trapped in layers that pass through millions and millions of years?

What’s the saying that the odds of evolution is like a tornado passing through a garbage dump and a fully functional 747 just miraculously becomes out of the heap of garbage.

There isn't more evidence that we evolved from other organisms than there is for Christianity. In fact, there is no evidence that any organism ever evolved into a separate, new organism. They can't even make that happen in perfect lab settings.

Everything I stated is true. Evolution, as in "survival of the fittest" and "adapting to surrounding," is sound science with plenty of supporting evidence. Evolution as the origin of our species is a religious belief with no proof whatsoever.
