Why is Donald Trump targeting the Amish vote in Pennsylvania?
The religious community traditionally abstains from taking part in elections, but Republicans believe their votes could be crucial in the US presidential election.
Henry Stoltz, a vegetable farmer, has registered to vote but has not decided who for
Traditionally in the past they wanted little to do with government, believing instead that they serve the higher kingdom of God.
Now, among this deeply religious community known for rejecting modern technology, the attitude to politics is changing and the “Amish vote” has been relentlessly targeted in one of America’s swing states.
“Trump has some good ideas, especially on the economy,” Henry Stoltz, an Amish vegetable farmer, said. “But you see, I don’t like his morals.”
Stoltz, 45, who sells the pumpkins, apples, potatoes and squash that he grows at a country market in Manheim, Pennsylvania, is a member of the Trump campaign’s latest target demographic — one that it believes could put the former president back in the White House.
Pennsylvania is the most hotly contested state in the run up to next month’s election, and, with 19 electoral college votes, the most coveted. Overall victory is considered very unlikely for either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris if they fail to win here.
Joe Biden won the state by 80,000 votes in 2020, and 90,000 Amish live in Pennsylvania — many of them in the, traditionally Republican, Lancaster County.

Scott Pressler has reportedly been on the ground going into these communities since he moved there with the goal of getting them registered knowing nearly all of them will vote Trump if you can just get them to the polls.

I’ve got a buddy that sells drilling products that makes the rounds up there, and he’s been saying this. They are pissed. Mainly Covid set them off.

If this is true this would be huge. Because those are the kind of people you can count on to get shite done. They are all going to vote. They wouldn't register and not vote.. that's not their culture.

I agree. It is potentially a big deal in those key states.

Those would also be votes that would never show up on a poll

Amish furniture and Amish cheese is tops.
Things crazy. If this is true, there is no fricking way Trump doesn’t win Pennsylvania.

.... and Amish mattresses.
Cool metaphor though. It's time to go to the mattresses with the Mennonites, Amish, Quakers on our side.

Although, that wouldn't be a bad thing imho.
However, I image the Amish will go back to living their normal lives after this.
The Amish I know are good people.

There is an Amish village outside Waco, Texas. We took our daughter a few years ago to visit Baylor and it was recommended to us.
They had a restaurant that had a two hour wait for lunch and the oldest employee was 16. A bunch of 12-13 year old servers and 14-15 year olds in the back. Manager was 16.
Place ran like a machine.

if you are ever in the area, check it out
