The idea of spitting into two nations is fatally flawed because human nature would not change, and the new conservative nation would soon form left and right, and you’d be right back where you were.
Think of this nation - the USA - back in 1945. It was rock solid conservative by today’s standards. And seventy years later it elected Barak Hussein Obama.

If I'm the Southern part of this country I would think twice about this. You would have enemies to your North and your West and if someone were sneaky enough to your south in Mexico. This ain't 1861 with Mexico fighting a French army in the center of the country

Hell naw.
They hate America, all it stands for, consider it an institutionally racist built on stolen land without honor and needs to be eradicated country.
Why would we give up one inch or one parish to people like that?
They want America destroyed and rebuilt in Marx's image. We want it to continue as a capitalist Republic and to continue to improve (as it has) for more generations.
You can't continue by giving it away, in part or whole, to those who want to destroy it.

Totally true, but imagine what a large scale war civil war would entail: A global war. No way the big nations stay on the sidelines of the US goes to war with itself.
A negotiated divorce is the far better option if political solutions cant be found.

I believe you could combine the American Western States, Republic of the Midwest, and Southern Republic of America. On top of that you could also add eastern Washington, eastern Oregon, western PA, western NY and western MD. Pretty much take a line from Harpers Ferry, WV and run it straight north adding everything west of it.
