Massie’s current House position remains active through the end of the year so how would that work?

Guess he could ditch it and jump to the appointed senate seat?

At least for 56 days?

New law means an election must happen but I think it can’t be held for at least 56 days so whoever wins would only be in office for a couple to a few months.

Hahahaa. Watch how much money pours into KY for this election. Plus a Dem governor. frickery is going to happen.

Although, Thune et al, could be sweating.

Who is in the running?

Massey is going to milk this one way or another.

ETA: Governor is required to call a special election.

A Beshear appointment process would've had every true conservative in America begging the doctors to keep McTurtle plugged in indefinitely.

That would've been a sure-fire path from bad to worse.

Hopefully with a parade, that fake conservative doucher betrayed his country and was one of the worst grifters in Washington. The World is better off without him!

The KY Republican Party will not nominate Massie. Three RINO’s maybe, but not Massie

First find a wooden stake. Find someone in round glasses and a brown woolen coat. He'll know what to do with it.

He really was. Both he and his wife. His wife's father was some sort of business tycoon/shipping magnate in China. I read a few years ago that the McConnell's used that relationship to make millions.

And that was probably the least of what they did.

I assume the governor of Kentucky would name a replacement for the remainder of his term.
Nope, as you pointed out, the Governor is required to call a special election within 30days, the a special election is called 60-90 days from that point. I'd expect Beshear would use every day of his 30 allowed, before calling for a special election, then argue for delaying it to coincide with the scheduled November election. Regardless, the seat will sit vacant several months.
