If the wall is just a silly orange man idea

That’s not going to have any effect according to Nancy and Chuck then why shut the government down over it? I mean it’s a tiny pittance as far as dollars go, let them build it and if it’s going to be such a failure hang it around the GOP’s and Trumps neck like an Albatross.

Good point. The dems know it will work.
Posted on 1/6/19 at 6:35 am to Strannix
The dipshite Dems know a wall would work, but they need the illegals on their side.

My view is the wall is merely symbolic. It's essentially just a middle finger to people saying you're not welcome here.
It likely would only be minimally effective but like you said it's also of minimal relative cost
The battle is about what type of symbolic message do we want to send to the rest of the world. Do we want to be a bunch of isolationist/nationalists or do we want to be a country that welcomes immigrants?

The message is simple, we want immigrants to come here LEGALLY. Frick what the world thinks of a wall.

What a load of horse shite. Of course a wall would work to funnel illegals to a checkpoint.
It's not one or the other. We can have a wall, control our borders and allow legal immigration. I'm not surprised a leftist douche like yourself is trying to lie about the issue.

The Wall is a metaphor about America's future and who will be a part of it.
Nothing more.
Nothing more.

Do we need more immigrants right now?

We always welcome immigrants.

Quite the opposite. Once built, it would take the political suicide of a lot of people for a wall to be taken down. The next president could easily decide to stop enforcing illegal immigration by reinstating catch and release and the like. The wall will secure our border for generations, regardless of the whims of the ruling party.

Our country always has and always will welcome immigrants you fricking moron. The wall is to keep out criminal trespassers.
America cannot just absorb the entirety of the poor of the world unfiltered and without restrictions. We have immigration law.
You have a door on your house that locks. I'm sure you still welcome guests that are invited but shut and lock your door to those that aren't.
Go home and take the door off of the hinges and just have a hole in your house for a few months and tell us if you still feel the same.

Americans will be a part of it. Legal immigrants will be a part of it.

Just ask any rich, elite why they have a wall/gate around their house or community.
The longer this goes on, the simpler it becomes. This is clearly a vote grab by the dems. They will handle the consequences of allowing illegals in later. The goal here is eliminating you.
And the prog filth that say otherwise on this board understand that as well.
The wall is cheap, effective and runs counter to their success of eliminating the voice of conservatism.

I have followed your posts for over a decade - this is the most mushy-nutty comment I have ever seen you post. This rates along with Tboy garbage.

I'm going off of the vibe I get from politicians in Washington and their view
I think it really is symbolic. I don't think anyone on the hill really thinks a wall makes that much of a difference either way.

Powerman, are you or were you an illegal?

So are laws that are already in place but not being enforced by current state and local governments, so there's that.
