Did you read the comment I responded to?

The post I responded to stated that it was simply not true that some people are more productive at home than the office. I disagreed. Am I wrong?

I don't have to "take it from someone who knows". I already have taken it from someone who knows.....ME.

FWIW, I also agree that MOST people should not work from home. But why should a business that can prove that they are more efficient having some or all of their workforce work from home not be allowed to do so? I agree that in most cases government employees should not work from home, but also acknowledge that it some cases if should be allowed.

But I think it is very narrow-minded to think that ALL businesses should avoid employees that work from home.

That's funny.

My brother-in-law has been selling Medicare insurance Part C plans and supplements for almost 20 years. He has to report to an office once a month for a monthly sales meeting. The rest of the time, he works from his home office....which is located in his $2.2 million dollar home. He has probably worked in an office about less than 300 days total in his nearly 20 years. He is 46 years old and is the most driven person I personally know. His residual income alone is around $60,000/month and yet he still makes about an extra $20-$30k a month on top of that because of his drive. I absolutely acknowledge that he is an exception, but I also acknowledge that he is not the only one.

Simple as that.

Some very conflicted people in this thread.

They want DOGE to cut federal bloat, but they're clutching pearls over defending WFH. Obviously scared that if fedgov dies it and it works, it could bleed to private enterprises.

might want to explain how the savings on office space is accrued. My understanding is the fed gov't building usage is down to 25 %, yet they want to build more

I really just hate this blanket assumption that everyone working from home is just bumming it up, and "real work" only can get done in an office building. I've worked from home for about 7 years now since our factory was offshored and the company decided to keep me, and I've put in 45-50 hours of very legitimate work every week since.

Honestly I work more diligently at home than I did in the office because I want to make sure no one ever has to remotely question what I'm doing.

Lol. You people are really simple-minded. My company has people who routinely work after hours, because they can easily log on and work from home. That wouldn't happen if they had to drive into the office at 11pm.

There are also less distractions. When on calls, it's more difficult to hear people in the office due to background noise.

No one is ever late because of traffic. No one ever leaves early to beat the traffic.

You people act like employees in the office never chit chat, surf the internet, look at their phones, or just slack off. A shitty worker is going to be shitty whether they are in the office or at home.

It's simply amazing how much WFH bothers some of you. It's such a stupid thing to give a shite about, and your arguments are retarded. "I know a guy who works from home and is lazy, therefore everyone who works from home is lazy." You complain about lazy workers, yet you're a lazy thinker. That's much worse in my book.

I agree we need to cut bigtime, but your logic is flawed. You are assuming that people that work from home don’t do anything..

Comparing government work from home to private sector work from home is a fools errand. People that work from home in the private sector have a profit motive that simply doesn't exist in government. Are there good people in government? You bet your arse, but it's not the majority. Order everyone back to the office and at least 20% will quit immediately. Maybe more.

I agree that government workers working from home are going to be less productive overall, but the original poster assumed that they wouldn’t get anything accomplished.

We aren’t saving shite LowT. Did you read the link I posted? We are paying to heat and cool MANY vacant buildings, and paying leases and/or additional charges for maintenance and upkeep.

Well, that's dumb. Maybe turn off the heat and consider selling the buildings.

That is debatable. It doesn't work as well as it should for the money that is spent on it.

You give them generous severance and they’re more likely to leave. Highly advantageous to taxpayers
