If military action vs Iran never happened, where would gas prices be?

Would prices at the pump be where they were before Iran, lower, higher?
There is no slant here, I’m pro-Trump. It’s just something I’ve been pondering the past couple of days. I have the economic mind of a flea, and I know some of you folks out west of me work in and around oil & gas, so I thought I’d ask.

Probably low 2’s but I’m ok with small sacrifices for long term gains. Just a step in making America great again

Before Iran gas was in the low 2s.
Like Trump said, "the war caused the inflation but what are you gonna do? Allow Iran to have a nuke and kill 40 thousand more innocent people like they did 4 months ago? You gotta be stupid to let Iran have a nuke."
I agree with omb.

Before or after Iran got an itchy trigger finger and blew Iran or another country off the map?
Posted on 5/14/26 at 6:52 pm to Savagetiger19
That’s Trump’s plan? Have you run that by the “this is all about the oil” people?

There have been 100s of thousands of innocent Christians killed in Africa. We didn’t start a war there.

Ooohhh shite that’s right, my bad. I forgot.

No war but there have been 100s of missions in Africa and many others you dont know about. Obama conducted several missions in Africa also. Yes he did. Last time I checked Africa isnt making nukes either liberal. Trump also brought 1000s(almost 5000 people) to America from Africa just this year. How many did Biden bring? Over 70 thousand. America is doing their part there also sir.
Why dont you ask Trump Why?
If you think War in Iran is only because of nukes and murders, your not fact checking and only want to listen to the non American liberal left. Its also about using the straight of hormutz(sp) to control the mark of oil/gas and held the world hostsge for decades concerning oil/gas since the 80s. Its time for that to stop.
I guess kumala had a better plan? Let that sink in for a moment. You voted for that dumb pos?

Do you have kids or grandkids? If so, you should not mind these temporary gas prices while Trump eliminates evil with nuclear bombs

Yeah, sure, I got kids and grandkids. What’s that got to do with how this is gonna make my life better??
(I kid)

I asked Grok how much per year would it cost to subsidize 50% of non commercial gasoline purchases.
It came up with about $200 billion/year.
Given that the wars cost several Trillion, it seems like we could have had half price gas for a couple of decades.

They’ve been 2 weeks away from having a nuke for 30 years now. But 6-9 months after we supposedly destroyed their nuclear capabilities, now they’re really about to get a nuke, and we need to go to war with them? Just seems fishy.

I’m a conservative that actually doesn’t change positions because Trump tells me to…much easier just to stick with my positions.

This year or after a terrorist state nuclear Iran?

This is so god damn dumb. What exactly are ‘we’ gaining?
Posted on 5/14/26 at 7:41 pm to prouddawg
Are we talking now or in the future? When looking at the past, even without military action, how stable were those prices?

Posted on 5/14/26 at 7:42 pm to prouddawg
$15/bbl higher than they should be, because of the constant decades long threat of the IRGC even being in power.
And are you referring to the "military action" of the bombings of the Cole, African embassies, Beirut barracks, the Khobar Towers, or you just mean this current round of dropping explosives?

I do too and thanks for answering a simple question. Some of the touchiness of those on our side is a little embarrassing
