They wouldn't have to, but they would.

He won't. If he was going to he would have done it but now. It's all an act with him.

No way he will change. He agrees with the Democrat proposals, he just doesn’t want to blow up the filibuster to do it. He only votes about 30% of the time with the GOP.

The MOST he would ever do is go independent and caucus with the democrats. He's a liberal, he just hasn't lost his mind like the rest of the party.

He won't. He is a lifetime Democrat. He just can't go as far into left field because he is from a solidly Republican state.

Manchin could stop Schumer dead in his tracks if he did this, but The Turtle would be the Senate Majority Leader.

He may not want to, but he'll be forced to either cross the aisle or declare as an Independent. WV isn't going to put up with being shite on by Prog Commies.

Hank Johnson says that could cause the isle to tip over and capsize.

Manchin should switch only if he can be majority leader after the switch.

Also, why is Tester never targeted for a switch to the GOP?

Manchin if not an official Blue Dog Democrat, is at least an old school blue collar Democrat..

He didn't leave his party..they left him!

Joe Manchin if stays the course..will be on the right side of history.

Tester is pretty far left. He just puts on his farmer/rancher gimmick around election time.

Montana isn't a deep red state anymore though. A shocking number of transplant progs have moved there over the years.

I’m trying to figure out what a Senator from WVA has in common with today’s American Marxist party? 20-30 years ago maybe but today there’s nothing the American Marxist party stands for that’s good for WVA.

He would be an idiot. He's the most powerful person in Washington DC right now. He can name anything he wants for WV and get it. Why the hell would he give that up to become McConnel's B*tch?

Isle-land surrounded by water
Aisle-space left for walking between seats or chairs

Sheesh

If the R’s control the Senate in 2022 I hope McConnell is done…he needs to go.

The Majority and Minority leaders are not elected by a vote the entire of the Senate the same way the Speaker of the House is voted on by the entire House. Rather, each "leader" position is voted on by the members of that party.

If Manchin were to cross the aisle, Mitch McConnell would automatically become the Majority Leader without a vote. He would remain so until the Republicans decided to have another leadership vote for some reason (his death, his departure from the Senate, an embarrassing issue comes out that mandates some sanction (see Trent Lott), etc.)
