Could him switching put the republican democrats in power? I have heard of the republican party but I have never met a senator that was really a republican.

Folks seem to forget about his wife, and who nominated her. That’s a big reason I don’t trust Manchin, along with others previously mentioned.

https://www.arc.gov/staff/federal-co-chair-gayle-conelly-manchin/

quote:

Gayle Conelly Manchin was sworn in as the Appalachian Regional Commission’s thirteenth federal co-chair on May 6, 2021, becoming the first ARC federal co-chair from West Virginia. Nominated by President Biden, Manchin works directly with ARC’s 13 member governors, their state alternates and program managers, and a network of local development districts to continue to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth throughout Appalachia.

Republican in the Senate wouldn’t allow it. You would basically be handing a lot of power in the Senate over to a lifelong democrat when we are eleven months away from mid terms when there is going to be a huge shift right anyway.

Better for the Senate maintain the status quo until the next Congress.

Everyone always whines about a do nothing congress.

Doing nothing is preferable to them doing ANYTHING.

Democrats whine about a Democrat Congress, Republicans whine about a Republican Congress. Seems to go with the territory.

This is true, but he's still better than Schumer.

He's not but IF he did Liz Chaney would cross to the Dems, or at least claim to be Independent in the mold of Bernie.

Why would Manchin do that? Right now, he is the most powerful person in the Senate. If he crosses to R, he gets one cycle and then he's just another R. Might as well be Tuberville. This nets him more power in his career for sure.

Manchin votes 97.4% with Biden, he voted 50.4% with Trump so he’s not a conservative. He votes less in support of the GOP Fran a rino, why would he be a plus to the GOP other than giving them the majority? He’s more in agreement with Democrats than Republicans.

The MOST he would ever do is go independent and caucus with the democrats. He's a liberal, he just hasn't lost his mind like the rest of the party.

Yep, just like Lieberman did.

Liz Cheney has only slit her throat in the house with the Republicans. Odds right now are that she will get back in unless all the idiots bow out, except for one staunch Republican challenging for that seat. Eighty Republicans running puts Cheney back in

If she switched to Democrat, she would be treated like anyone with a Colorado plate coming into Wyoming to hunt.

He doesn't have to cross the aisle. He could switch to Independent and the GOP would be the majority:
50-49-1.

It has been said if that happened he would still caucus and vote with democrats there by still leaving Camel Toes with the tie breaking votes on legislation.

Oh, he would be in a great bargaining position from each party when the vote is close.
