We should all see the writing on the wall. Drugs will all be legal by 2040 and Louisiana will likely be the last adopter, consistently lagging behind nearly every other state, missing every opportunity to lead or innovate in any way.
Mexico wants to legalize all drugs
Colorado legal shrooms

I'm not saying drugs are good or anything like that, but since we all know it's going to happen either in 2025 or 2040, it will happen so get in front of it, lead in developing programs, legislation, taxation benchmarks, etc...and show a conservative approach to a liberal agenda before the liberal agenda dictates what everyone else will likely have to mimic.

When in the last 50 years has not wanting to do something worked for Louisiana? Abortion? Nope. Segregated schools? Nope. 18 to drink? Nope. Gambling? nope. Smoking? Nope.

Take the opportunity to be something besides a laughing stock who is consistently bent over and begrudgingly taking it up the arse.

We all know that burglary and murder are gonna happen. We should just legalize it.

Other countries have already shown its cost-saving and a benefit to society when these drugs are legalized. The illegality makes the danger of a lot of these substances. I doubt it happens in the south anytime soon, however

I can see something like that happening in Nevada or Montana.

North Louisiana is like the rest of the southeast: bible belt. I’m amazed the state lottery and casinos passed here.

There's already enough inconsiderate drunks on the road. I don't think we need to add inconsiderate druggies to the problem. Now if they were all mature acting individuals when doing their drug of choice you might have a point but there's the crux of the problem, the maturity of handling it.

If every state were smart, they’d legalize all drugs

Drug prices would plummet ( free market) organized crime would cease to exist overnight, addicts would no longer be forced to steal, incarcaration rates would be cut by half, law enforcement would save untold amounts. The downside may be increased overdose deaths but thats a matter of personal responsibility.

And it would be even worse if it were readily available at your beckon call. Think of it like this, if fat people didn't have easy access to all the food they wanted to eat then there's a good chance they wouldn't be fat.

I dont know anyone who doesnt have enough drugs in their medicine cabinets now to take out an elephant, these drug induced binge drivers wouldnt be significant enough to outweigh the wasteful spending that we do on policies that have been total failures.

That would be like super chill, like the stigma against people with drug problems is so wrong. Like they didn’t choose to stick that needle in their arm or smoke that crack. Like maybe they had like a super bad day and were just trying to take the edge off

It's the whole "no victim" argument, personal freedom yada yada...but go ahead and roll your eyes.

And liberals say that if people didn't have easy access to guns then there's a good chance they wouldn't commit mass murders.

Neither argument is valid. Restricting freedoms because a few people abuse it is never the answer.

The people calling for gun bans don't use guns. The people supporting taxes on sodas and fast food don't eat those items regularly. The people wanting to keep drugs illegal don't use them. The people wanting to burn books would never read them to begin with. People want to censor only the speech they disagree with.

Too many people are willing to restrict personal freedoms simply because it's not a freedom they personally enjoy. They rarely think about the freedoms they have that others want to take away when supporting the removal of one.

Legalize it but remove the safety nets.

You get addicted and screw your life...its on you and whatever voluntary charity to fix it.

You want all the freedom...then take all the responsibility.

That speaks to you, and the people you associate yourself with more than anything. That's not normal, and legalization isnt the answer...."just cause your friends are doing it".
