There is no provision for a public recall of a US Senator or US Representative. Only way to remove them is by standard election or the body can remove them via expulsion with a 2/3 vote of the body.

There would be a special election in the fall and he would appoint someone in the meanwhile.

Sounds like there's yet another hypothetical Constitutional Amendment that I can get behind, there is zero reason these people shouldn't be subject to recall petition by their constituents

He aint going anywhere.....making a cool mill+ a year, why would he resign?

The SWAMP has secret powers that consume you totally. And since the SWAMP has been exposed, they now operate in daylight hours, and completely admit they do NOT represent their people back home.

Says who. Other states their supreme courts have stated just the opposite. Example: New Jersey. Other than an Atty. Gen. in Louisiana , can you cite the constitutional prohibition to such a recall or any Louisiana case law to support your claim?

I agree.
If it is not specifically prohibited then by default it is permitted.

The same argument applies to the fact there is nothing in the constitution that provides for and authorizes a mechanism to engineer a recall of federal elected officials.

The US Supreme Court is on record saying this in Burton v United States and they say nothing about a recall...

quote:

The seat into which he was originally inducted as a Senator from Kansas could only become vacant by his death, or by expiration of his term of office, or by some direct action on the part of the Senate in the exercise of its constitutional powers.33

It’s pretty clear how SCOTUS would respond to federal/state legislation that provides for a recall against a federal politician.

Struck down in a landslide.

This is a congressional research document that lays out the history of recalls. LINK

People need to get used to the fact that Bill Cassidy is not going anywhere and will remain in his senate seat until 2026 and will never be expelled from the Senate.

Them’s the breaks.

Oh and he will never resign because he will not allow a democrat Governor to fill his seat.

Interesting reading, looks like we are stuck with him for 6 more years. Damn shame. Certainly the Senate won't vote to expel him and he ain't gonna resign because he knows he is superior to all of us morons so there you have it. We're screwed. Oh well, we're screwed anyway in so many ways so what the hell.

I mean he's a POS for what he did here but this is silly. Another Democrat senator is one democrat closer to things like getting rid of the filibuster and giving the left complete and total control

Come back to the real world, where politicians vote to increase their own salaries in a time when most Americans are struggling. They play the stock market with inside info and make it legal for them to do so.

Todays politicians are selfish. On both sides. No way in hell he resigns.

Republicans need to surround his home and not give them rest. All of them need to feel our anger and disgust at their betrayal.

This is true, but there is no provision to impeach and try a former president, either. I say fire up the recall petitions and see what happens.
